elevated eBPb7 March 15, 1939 ~ February 27, 2025
elevated eBPb7 Born 15 March, 1939 in Lišnjak Croatia, Mile immigrated to Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan) in the early 1960s. Husband to Ivanka (nee Perkovic), father to son Brian and daughter Betty, father-in-law to Sandi and Graham, and grandfather to Adam, Rylee, and Jaela, Mile passed away quietly on February 27, 2025.
elevated eBPb7 “Slim”, as he was affectionately known to his family after a significant weight loss in the mid 1990s, moved with Ivanka and new son Brian to Mississauga, Ontario, in 1968, welcomed daughter Betty in 1969, and worked as a baker for several grocery-store chains, including Dominion, Food City, and Sobeys. Gifted with an indomitable work ethic, “early to bed, early to rise” was a way of life for Slim for the next 45 years, working constantly to cover bills, car payments, mortgages, and countless unexpected expenses. After a long-awaited retirement at 65 years of age, Slim silently took his retirement cake with zero fanfare―never looking back―and poured himself into his garden, lawn, fruit trees, having coffee with his buddies from the “motherland” at Tim Horton’s every morning, then returning home to watch World Cup games and the Blue Jays in the summer, the Leafs and Buffalo Bills in winter―yelling at the TV most of the time―letting all the players know that they should be doing better “for that kind of money”. When taking a break from TV sports, Slim cherished sitting in his shaded garage and scanning the newspapers, while essentially “supervising the neighborhood” with several cat naps in between. Contentment came simply through having no debt, the kids having jobs and (their own) houses, and no major health issues.
elevated eBPb7 A devastating stroke in early 2022 claimed much of his independence and ability to communicate, yet he managed to stubbornly live long past most estimates of his impending expiry, likely dismissing them without a thought. Comically impatient, his dry sense of humour, overt sarcasm, and general disposition toward “doing nothing” after 55 years of non-stop work, will be missed.

Over 40 years ago we first met, not as Mr. Vukusic but as Tati. I was nervous at first because my best friend’s dad was a large man with a loud voice…until I came to realize Tait was a big hearted softy who was always making jokes and worked so hard to make sure his family lived well.
Rest peacefully
You will always be Tati to me and I will always be Rolaids to you.
We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this very difficult time. May you find comfort and strength in each other and those who love you.
Love Nancy and Thierry
We would like to express our deepest sympathy at the loss of your father and grandfather.
Love,
The Jarvines
