elevated rMCyb Obituary
elevated rMCyb In loving memory of Mimi Borromeo, who gracefully departed this world on February 20, 2024, surrounded by her cherished family. Her courageous battle with Guillain Barre Syndrome showcased the strength that defined her remarkable character.
elevated rMCyb Today, we gather to celebrate the extraordinary life of a woman who wore many titles with grace and love—beloved Mom of three children, John, Geraldine, and Mark; Grammy to six wonderful souls, Sydney, Alyssa, Justin, Ryan, Lauren, and John, devoted sister; and Ninang or Tita to countless nieces and nephews.
elevated rMCyb Born on January 30, 1944, to Demetrio and Patrocinio Dimacali in Manila, Philippines, Mimi embarked on a journey that touched many lives. Educated at the prestigious Maryknoll College and St. Theresa’s College with a passion for business, her pursuit of knowledge laid the foundation for a life filled with purpose.
elevated rMCyb In 1973, Mimi bravely immigrated to Canada with her family. In this unfamiliar land, she built a home and raised her beloved children. She radiated the virtues of unconditional love and boundless generosity, evident in her nurturing care for her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends.
elevated rMCyb Mimi’s professional journey as a Certified Public Accountant and entrepreneur further enriched her diverse and fulfilling life. However, her most enduring legacy was written in her 30+ year devotion as lead sacristan at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She not only served the Lord with unwavering dedication but also embraced the role of a nurturing mother to the parish community. She was famous for hosting parties that gathered the clergy and community for birthday celebrations, anniversaries, or simply for the joy of spending time with one another. She was the glue that kept her family and friends together.
elevated rMCyb Affectionately known as “Tita Mimi” to many, she wholeheartedly served her church community and held a special place in her heart for every young altar server she was called to mentor. “Tita Mimi” was more than a name; she was a beacon of warmth and guidance for all who crossed her path. Throughout her life, she threaded love and devotion, weaving a legacy that touched the hearts of many.
elevated rMCyb Beyond her commitments, Mimi’s compassion extended to her four-legged children, Jaboa, Corrie, Charlie, Sparky, Duke, and Daisy. She was a beautiful soul, a fighter until the end, displaying kindness and passion that left an indelible mark on countless lives. In her final weeks, the outpouring of video calls, letters, and visits brought her immeasurable joy, peace, and comfort.
elevated rMCyb Whether addressed as Mimi, Tita Mimi, Grammy, or Mom, she holds a unique place in each of our lives. She leaves behind a legacy of love, celebration, and an unwavering commitment to serving God and others—a legacy we must carry forward with the same joy that defined her remarkable life.
elevated rMCyb As we bid her farewell, we extend our deepest gratitude for the love and warmth she shared. Let us remember her not with tears of sorrow, but with the smiles and laughter she so effortlessly shared with us all.
elevated rMCyb Visitation will be at Holy Cross Funeral Home in Thornhill, Ontario, on Monday, February 26, and Tuesday, February 27, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral mass and reception to follow will take place at St. Thomas The Apostle Church in Markham, Ontario, on Wednesday, February 28, at 2:00 pm.

Offering my prayer and thanksgiving to her family for a life well-lived. Mimi was at the forefront of an incredible period in Prince of Peace’s history. Without a doubt, she helped nurture a number of vocations as she guided hundreds of Altar servers who looked to her for love, care and support over the years. Well done good and faithful, Mimi. See you on the other side.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time.
Mimi, may you rest in peace. Your service to God as a long time servant to the Prince of Peace clergy and community stands out in my memory. I witnessed you patiently and devotedly serving God over the years. Salamat Mimi.
I was so sorry to hear about this sad news when my son, Joseph called me in the Philippines. My condolences to the bereaved family 😥
Mimi has a unique place in our lives. I encountered her in our parish, the Prince of Peace church. She leaves behind a legacy of love, celebration, and an unwavering commitment to serving God. She was a remarkable lady with a legacy to share the love and joy to everyone. Rest in peace Mimi, you are gone but not forgotten.
May you rest in peace Mimi.I was fortunate enough that I had the privilege of meeting and serving with you at Prince of Peace Church.
You serve the Church quietly and unreservedly, not seeking any kind of
recognition but just knowing that you have served the Lord as best as you can. Rest in peace and may God’s grace strengthen your family.
Our condolences to Binky, John and Mark and the rest of the family. Our relationship with Mimi started as my client as a mortgage specialist. A marriage between our families turned to be personal friends and in the end we called each other Primo and Prima!
Rest in Peace Prima Mimi and thank you for our friendship!

We are so sorry to hear about the death of your mom and our kumare Mimi. The last time we saw her and got to catch up was at her 75th birthday.
We have so many memories of you all growing up with our kids: MaiMai, JunJun & LaiLai. Camping with all the families, church events at Prince of Peace, all the parties at the house in Scarborough then in Markham, and your mom’s big dogs.
We are holding you close in our thoughts and prayers during this painful time. Your mom’s presence will be forever felt and her love & faith will continue to surround you.
May the Holy Spirit offer you and the rest of the family comfort and peace during this difficult time.
If there is anything we can do, please let Mai know.
Tita Linda and I will continue to pray for all of you.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family, Mimi. You were a friend and confidant. It was my honour to serve as a fellow sacristan at the 5:00 p.m. Mass at Prince of Peace Parish. I admired your patience and strength of character as you mentored many young people who served as altar servers over the years, including my own three children. Your compassion and kindness was evident as you dealt with people at their saddest moments, funerals, or happiest, weddings. You were a friend to the entire Prince of Peace community and a pillar of support for your family. Rest in peace good and faithful servant.
Life on earth is really a journey to our eternal paradise. Mimi has had her journey and she has now landed in a place – we call heaven – where there is eternal and peaceful rest, a beautiful release from pain. We pray for the repose of her soul, resting in the arms of our Lord, and we also pray for those she left behind that they may have peace, comfort and strength. Mimi will always be in our hearts. Our deepest sympathies to her bereaved family.
I am ever thankful to Mimi for being my mentor as a sacristan and Eucharistic minister. She was detail-oriented and a woman of faith and prayer. We love you, Mimi. May you have everlasting life!
Blessed be those who serve the Lord unselfishly, theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Eternal rest grant unto you Mimi.
Saddened to hear about the passing of our beloved Tita Mimi. She was an active and dedicated volunteer at Prince of Peace parish who touched and shaped the lives of many children and youth as she guided them in faith including myself and brothers who altar served regularly at the 5pm Saturday mass. She played an integral part in the formative years of all three of us and was a foundation of our faith. Her leadership and dedication will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Tita Mimi.
Thank you dear Mimi for your unconditional love, guidance and support you provided to countless altar servers, including my Noel. You were their Tita Mimi even when they grew up and moved on in life.
We shared wonderful times and the memories will live on. You will be missed dear Mimi. May you rest in eternal peace.

Death leaves a heartache, no one can heal.
Love leaves a memory, no one can steal.
Surprised to learn about your death from the mass offerings for next week at POP. You were a big part of my kids church life as they were altar servers. Your service is your work for God.
