Dearest Sylvia, Carl, Moy Ying’s siblings and families,
I have received the very sad news of the passing away of Moy Ying, your beloved sister and aunt. Please accept my deepest and heartfelt condolences in this moment of great sorrow.
I give thanks for Moy Ying’s long life, full of love, care, concern and concrete service to all who crossed her path. Our families have had a close and long connection when you were residing in Point Fortin and Port of Spain in Trinidad.
In the late 70’s and early 80’s my bond with Moy Ying grew closer in Montreal. It was such a joy to visit with Moy Ying, Sylvia, Stan and Gary. Those were unforgettable family moments! But then we all relocated to various parts, Texas, USA, Calgary, Toronto and I to the Far East – Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Moy Ying and my Mom enjoyed each other’s company so over the years, when I returned to Toronto for family visit, my Mom always reminded me to visit Moy Ying. When Moy Ying and I would meet, it was so easy to reconnect even if we had not seen each other for years. Her warm hospitality was overwhelming, offering tasty snacks and delicious fruits. She was always interested in what I was up to.
All Moy Ying’s siblings Fr. Sydney, Freddy, Anna, Mark, Ena, Sylvia, Carl, Carlton, Gracie were all dear to her heart. Moy Ying shared their news with me. I enjoyed her pleasant company, calm temperament, patience, sense of good humour and above all, I admired her piety, active life, green thumb, enjoying her game of mahjong. Moy Ying was really a beautiful person and good sport!
Surely, Moy Ying is now in the loving embrace of Our Heavenly Father for the colourful life that she lived with her faithfulness and love. Thank You Moy Ying Jia! Eternal rest grant unto you, O Lord and let perpetual shine upon you, may you rest in peace.
I assure each and all of you of my prayers for strength, comfort and consolation in this moment of profound grief. As I am now in South Korea, I regret that I will be unable to attend the funeral but I will be there spiritually with you. If there will be livestreaming, kindly send me the link.
Love,
Mary Chang
Thanks for teaching me Chinese songs when I was young. The joyous occasions were had on my visits in Jamaica and with my family (Peter , Dean and myself on several visits. Remembering her. Words of encouraging to “eat more” after eating. Dean’s assistance and laughter while he lived in Toronto.
Will miss her anday she rest in peace
