elevated iCFlk Monica Boyle (nee Wall) died peacefully in her sleep on November 2, 2021 under the care and supervision of the excellent staff at Carefree Lodge, Toronto. Thank-you Margery, thank-you Skylyn, thank-you Rose Marie, thank-you Maria, thank you Pearl, thank-you Norma, thanks for you all, too numerous to name for the quality of your care.
elevated iCFlk Life began for Monica Mary in Windsor Ontario on February 8, 1921, first born of James E. Wall and Florence (nee Pageau). In an orderly fashion brothers and sisters soon followed – Margaret Anne, Leonard J. (Archbishop of Winnipeg), Claire Marie (Howard Greason), and Vincent (Terry Fayette). Her first steps into the world led her to St. Mary’s Academy in Windsor, in a few short years under the guidance of her parents and with the example of the Sisters of the Holy Name of Jesus she learned the faith that would sustain her throughout her life.
elevated iCFlk In the 1930’s the family moved to Toronto. She attended the School of Nursing at St. Michaels Hospital, graduating as a Registered Nurse and posted to the newborn nursery. She quickly discovered an important part of herself – she loved children. Which was good because in her future was a young soldier named James K. Boyle (deceased). In time they wed and proceeded in a less ordinary fashion (two sets of twins), to have seven children: Jim – deceased (Pauline St. Jean), Brian (Suzanne Patten), Teresa (Richard Shields), John –deceased (Kathryn Egan), Gerard, Leonard and Mary (John Mundy). Raising seven children with limited resources is a difficult task, yet with courage and determination she managed to do it. She may even have taken some small satisfaction with the results.
elevated iCFlk Her life touched so many people – Sister Mary Lou Harris, CSJ, Vince Greason, Mary Lou Bacher, the Walls, Jim, Fred, Kathleen and Patty – countless cousins and nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, friends and chance encounters, strangers scattered like fruit across one hundred years of living. Each fresh with the memory of a kind smile or the soothing touch of an encouraging word.
elevated iCFlk In her busy life she found time for the Catholic Women’s League. She was a sought after speaker and a valued member of the Catholic Church extension, and Extraordinary Minister at Blessed Trinity Church, and with her old friend Sister Mary Agnes a long time secretary at St. Cyril’s and St. Leonard’s Schools.
elevated iCFlk At the end of her life, disabled and immobilized in bed and suffering the terrors of dementia, she cried out in agony “O God, where are you?”
elevated iCFlk Monica Boyle died peacefully in her sleep on November 2, 2021. God heard her prayer and called her home. We who remain invite you to remember her in your own way.
elevated iCFlk Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home and Cemetery. A private COVID-Restricted Mass of Resurrection was celebrated on November 8, 2021.

I will miss this kind, loving, lady who was always there for me. Monica was a second mother to me, and I will always cherish the wonderful talks that we had over the many years that she was a part of my life. Rest in Peace dear Monica; you have touched the lives of so many.

AUNTIE MONICA: It !R I N G S! so well in my mind. We used always come down to Toronto, to see GRANDPA and GRANDMA, Auntie Monica and H E R BROOD!, Auntie Margaret Anne, Uncle Leonard, and Uncle Vince with Aunt Terry and the kids. (CLAIRE-MARIE and HOWARD were the parents of VINCE and MARY LOU!!!!!!!!!)
I chose her name out of a l l of the names, for my CONFIRMATION name! She had REAL LIFE, which she passed on to all of the PEOPLE that came to be with her. I really LOVED h e r. I will miss her, so much. She is a woman to be reckoned with, one of so much GOODNESS and COMPASSION.
She always had a smile on her face – even though she might have had a rough day, it was always there – with a glint of IRISH/FRENCH Canadian spirit to it.

Dear Kath, Sarah, Amy & Jesse. You are in our thoughts and prayers as you sadly say ‘Good-bye’ to Monica, your mother-in-law and grandmother. She was such a good, strong woman, wife, mother (mother-in-law) and grandmother. Unfortunately, due to our own family commitments, we couldn’t attend today’s visitation or funeral for Monica, but we remember her very busy fondly. This last year was so stressful for you and the Boyle family and such a personal hardship for Monica. Thankfully, she is now reunited with her husband Ken, her parents, grandparents, two beloved sons and other loved ones. Rest In Peace, Monica.
The loss of a parent leaves on feeling somewhat adrift, even if the past years have been in the role of the care giver rather than receiver. There is great love in this family and so although missed, will continue to live happily forever in your thoughts.
