On Saturday October 29, 2022, surrounded by his family, our Lord called Guglielmo Nicola Grande (also known as Nick).
elevated 7pUBq Guglielmo was born on April 18, 1937 in Modugno, Bari, Italy to Domenico and Marta Grande. He emigrated to Canada in 1958 and in 1966, he married the love of his life, Chiara, and devoted his life to supporting his family. They were happily married for 56 years.
elevated 7pUBq Loving husband to Chiara, father of Marta (Rocco), Domenic (Rose), Joe (Maria), and devoted grandfather to William, Caterina, Joseph, Cristina, Anthony and Damian.
elevated 7pUBq Since arriving in Canada he made his living working in the grocery industry and moved his way up to make the brave and courageous decision to start his own business where he served his local community for 24 years. He was a God loving man, who was a pillar in the church and the community. He will be remembered for his strength of character, friendliness, humour and joy.

Ci mancherai moltissimo, ma sempre ti porteremo nei nostri cuori e nelle nostre memorie. Grazie per tutto quello che hai fatto per noi in comunità. Grazie, soprattutto, per essere stato un amico per i miei nonni Giuseppe e Francesco. Ricorderò sempre come mi avevi chiamato “Francesco Due”, secondo il “Papà Nonno”. Veramente mi sono sempre sentito tenuto con affetto da te e da Chiara, e da tutta la tua bella famiglia.
Il tuo amore cristiano è stato un esempio per molti di noi. La presenza tua e il tuo coinvolgimento nella parrocchia era una fedele testimonianza. Che il Dio della pace ti dia il tuo premio. «Bene, servo buono e fedele… prendi parte alla gioia del tuo padrone» (Matteo 25,21).
Che gli angeli t’accompagnino all’eterna dimora. Che la Madonna ti abbraccia come da mamma.

Lo Zio Nicola will be greatly missed and we take comfort from the many wonderful memories we shared together. One of my fondest memories is when all eleven of us would jump into Lo Zio’s big red car on a Sunday afternoon with a picnic basket full of Nonna Rosa’s homemade focaccia and spend the afternoon at Sunnyside Beach. Let’s not forget that Lo Zio always had his camera in hand to capture every special moment. Those days were very special and they will always remain in our hearts.
We will never forget Lo Zio Nicola. May God guide his soul to everlasting peace. 🙏
