It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Luigi D’Amico on August 30th, 2022 at the age of 88.
Preceded in death by his wife Rita of 58 years, beloved father to Patricia (Greg), Linda (David), and John, proud grandfather to Kyle, Anthony, Emily (Andrew), and Paul. Loving great grandfather to Zoe.
Luigi was passionate about his vegetable garden, curing meats, and making wine. He was remarkably generous with his family and will be sadly missed by all.
The family will receive friends at Holy Cross Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Road East (west of Bayview Ave.), Thornhill, on Friday, September 2, 2022, from 11:00 am – 1:15 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at the funeral home within the Chapel of St. Joseph at 1:30 pm. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to a reception luncheon at Holy Cross Funeral Home.

A good heart has stopped beating, but a heart that has touched so many lives can’t help but live on in those it loved.

It was with great sadness that our Dad, Joe DiFranco learned of Luigi’s passing. They became fast friends one year ago at the Beechwood Retirement Home. They sat together for meals and could often be seen in the lobby chatting or debating about something. They discussed current events or shared stories about their lives in Italy or the challenges they met when arriving in Canada. It was during these conversations that they discovered how much they had in common. All the residents were expressing worry for Luigi when he was hospitalized and saddened by the news of his recent passing. Joe wanted to pass on that Luigi will truly be missed by everyone at the Beechwood.
