elevated Ir98u Obituary
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dearly beloved mother at the age of 92 at Oakville Memorial Hospital. Born in Palo del Colle, Bari, Italy, in a family of 10 children, she often spoke and laughed about all the mischievous pranks they pulled as youngsters and how the townsfolk would report it to their papa “ Ciccill “. Antonia, who liked to go by the name “ Dina” immigrated to Canada where she met and married her husband “ Joe “ in Sudbury, Ontario. After his passing, she moved to Brampton to be close to her children and grandchildren whom she loved very much and doted on. She was a very sweet, loving, kind, generous, and hardworking person with a strong will and determination. She faced many health challenges throughout her life and yet persevered. Dina could be quite witty, had a knack for impersonations, and loved to joke in her “ Barese” dialect which would make the people around her burst out in laughter. Besides living a life with good morals, she was passionate about her garden flowers, loved to cook ( the best panzerotti and breaded chicken ever ), and enjoyed making Taralli on special occasions. A huge Toronto Maple Leaf fan, she would stay up late watching the hockey games on tv. Being a hairdresser for over 40 yrs brought her much fulfillment. Our mother was an extraordinary person, who we loved dearly. We wish she could’ve stayed with us longer, but God, who she kept close in her heart, has called her home. Predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Panzani. Loving mother to Paul Panzani (son) and Rosanna Panzani (daughter) Proud Nonna to Alexander, Lucas, and Stefen Panzani. She is predeceased by her parents Francesco and Rosa Santamaria, her siblings Francesca Santamaria, Angelo Santamaria, Filomena Carlucci, Battista Santamaria, Giovanna Roccia, Franceschina DeGiosa, and Pierino Santamaria. She will be missed by her brother Noah Santamaria and sister Sabina Rizzi. She will be missed by all her nieces and nephews and their children.
