elevated r2aHT Gregory Choi was born on March 10, 1941, in Korea. After graduating from Sungshin Minor Seminary, he joined the Society of Jesus. He fondly remembered his many years as a member of the Society of Jesus. He studied philosophy at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines and Economics as postgraduate study at St. Louis University in the United States from 1962 to 1972.
elevated r2aHT From 1974 to 1976, he attended St. Augustine’s Seminary in Toronto to complete theology studies and seminary formation. He was ordained to the priesthood on September 26, 1976, for the Archdiocese of Toronto. Fr. Gregory Choi served as Associate Pastor at St. John the Baptist Parish and Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, Toronto.
elevated r2aHT Fr. Gregory Choi served as Pastor of St. Andrew Kim’s Parish from November 1982 to June 2017. He faithfully ministered to help the parish grow into a vibrant and charitable faith community. All parishioners deeply respected and loved him as a good shepherd. He showed great compassion for seniors and people in need. One of his greatest accomplishments was leading parishioners in building our current church in North York. He was appointed Monsignor in March 2017. He retired in June 2017 and lived at the House of Providence in Toronto.
elevated r2aHT This year, Msgr. Gregory Choi celebrated the 50th anniversary of his priestly ordination. He passed away on August 21, 2026. For 50 years as a good shepherd, he faithfully ministered and taught the good news, “God is Love,” which was his ordination motto. St. Andrew Kim’s parishioners remain profoundly grateful for his lifelong commitment to loving and serving God and His people
