elevated ou6fK Peacefully at home in his sleep, Nestor joined his loving wife Helen on Wednesday, November 7th, 2018.  He is survived by his children Sharon, Ken (Joan), Janice (Dave), Kathy, Michelle (Norm).  Loving Didzi of Matthew (Erin), Aron (Julie), Jenna (Hendrik), Laura and Robert.  Predeceased by his parents John and Elsie Wasyluk, infant brother Michael, sister Nettie and August Kimocovich, Mary and Nick Kohuch, brother Morris (Doreen), brother Ron (Gwen).  Survived by brother Walter (late Lorraine), sister Rose Pettingill (Lee), sister Stella Prokopowich (late Gordon), brother John Wasyluk (Charlotte), sister Gloria Seniuk (Bill), sister Shirley Homecko (late Andy), brother Frank (Jane). Also survived by sister-in-law Olga Kotyluk (late Nestor) and brothers-in-law Eugene Kotyluk (late Nadia) and Eddie Kotyluk (late Gail) (Gail).  He was an uncle, godfather and good friend to many.

elevated ou6fK Nestor was born on April 30th ,1929 in Mink Creek Manitoba (Ethelbert district).  As a young boy, some of his first jobs included arriving to the one-room schoolhouse early in the winter months to start the fire in the stove for 12 cents a week.  He also herded cows home for 5 cents a week.  By the time he was 14, he was able to buy his first bicycle.

elevated ou6fK In 1944, the family moved to Garland Manitoba and opened Wasyluk’s Lucky Dollar Store serving gasoline, groceries, dry goods, clothing, and household items.  It was here that he first met the love of his life and future wife, Helen Kotyluk.  He finished high school at St. Joseph’s college, Yorkton, Saskatchewan and later graduated Normal School (Teacher’s College).

elevated ou6fK Nestor and Helen married on October 25th, 1951 at St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Garland Manitoba and they enjoyed 65+ years together.  He taught school for 7 years, all grades, all subjects in a one room schoolhouse in rural Manitoba.

elevated ou6fK In 1957 Nestor, Helen, and children Sharon, Ken and Janice moved to Toronto where they later welcomed daughters Kathy and Michelle. He worked for Christie-Brown for 7 years in sales.  He joined London Life Insurance in 1963 and retired after 30 years of service.

elevated ou6fK Nestor welcomed his first grandchild Matthew on October 25th, 1974, his 23rd wedding anniversary.  He was soon followed by Aron.  A few years later, Jenna, Laura and Robert were welcomed by their Didzi.

elevated ou6fK Dad enjoyed many trips and cruises with Mom.  Together they visited Cuba, the Dominican Republic, St. Kitts and Columbia, along with many other trips across Canada and the United States.

elevated ou6fK Dad loved spending time at the cottage creating memories with family and friends.  He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and collecting stamps and coins.  But the two things he will always be remembered for is making dill pickles and making people laugh. 

elevated ou6fK Nestor enjoyed going to church and it was a big part of his life until failing health made it difficult to attend.  He loved history and shared his love of his Ukrainian heritage and tradition with his children.  He led by example and was a devoted husband and father.  He lived a good and honourable life and he was loved very much.  We were blessed beyond measure to have been raised by such a strong and inspirational man and are forever proud to have had him as our father.

elevated ou6fK The family would like to thank Dr. Matthew Myatt, Leanne from the FHT, Liz Ferrier and the nurses and staff at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston.  The family would also like to say thanks to the wonderful at home support team that took such good care of our Father including Ashley C, Ashley N, Sharnette and Inder.  Dad was also blessed to have the comfort and peace of his youngest brother Frank who was by his side until the very end.
