It is with profound sadness that the family of Norma Virginillo announce her peaceful passing at the age of 98. Reunited with her late beloved husband Michele, to whom she was married to for 31 wonderful years before his passing in 1981.
Born in Pescolanciano, Isernia, Italy to Domenico and Teresa Mancini, Norma was a courageous pioneer being the first in her family to immigrate to Canada leaving behind her parents and 6 siblings.
A devoted and selfless wife and mother to her 3 children, she was a kind, caring, and gentle soul.
She was most overjoyed when 3 of her siblings decided to immigrate to Canada with their families and live near-by. Her proudest moments included watching her family members thrive in her adoptive country. She was always at the ready with sage advice to anyone who sought it.
Norma is survived by sons Antonio and Dominic, her daughter Mary, sister Carmelina and her extended family, sister-in-laws Bruna and Virginia, as well as nieces and nephews. She was loved in life, and she will be missed in death. Her generosity of spirit and strength will be with us forever.
Donations
In memory of Norma, Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A private visitation, mass, & burial will take place for family who wish to attend.

Zia Norma, you and Zio were the first to cross the sea. To find a brand-new home in a foreign land. With courage in your hearts and hope within your hands, You opened up a future to this great Canadian land !
when you found your place You reached back home , never asking why. three siblings arrived to follow, so that no one stood alone— You built a home , where each sibling stayed , till we found our own! It was a home full of love and it made this country feel like home.
Your backyard was our gathering place, Where laughter filled the air. husbands, wives ,sons, daughters, Brothers, sisters and cousins too. Love was everywhere.
Each weekend brought us closer, With stories, smiles, and cheer; Those simple family visits Remain so precious and dear.
I still remember this one memory, for me stands so clear 🥰 I was young and small, You made this instant coffee (sanka) I think and added Coffee-mate—that was all.
But to me, I had a smile from ear to ear ! It tasted heavenly, A little cup of grace, Because the sweetest part was not the drink— It was your loving face.
You gave us more than memories, You gave us roots and wings, You showed us that a generous heart Can change so many things.
Though sorrow fills the spaces Where your warm presence used to be
We will always remember you, Your kindness, strength, and light. You are sadly missed, our beautiful Zia Norma! By day and through the night You’ll always be within our hearts, Where love will never end ! Our cherished mother, sister and aunt ! our family’s bond.
