It’s very rare to come across a wonderful woman who leaves such a lasting impression on every person she encounters. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mum, Odette. She passed away peacefully at the Ian Anderson House on Sunday January 5, 2020. Daughter of Ferdinand and Eugenia Coutou, sister to Romel (Avril), Flavin, Lucien (Fidel) and the late Vivian . Loving mother to Geoffrey (Saja), Colin (Alisha), and Hayden (Helen). Devoted grandmother of Lian, Remi, Arielle, and Alanah. Precious Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to her many friends for their kindness and compassion with our Mom.
Special thank you to Dr. Higgins and Dr. Besik at Credit Valley Hospital along with their nurses, PSW’s, and caregivers for their kindness and support over the last few months.

Odette beloved sister of Romel, sister in law of Avril, and great aunt to Terence, may you rest in the peace that you so richly deserve. You will live on in the many fond memories that we have of you.
Cousin dearest, you have played a big part at different stages in my life, first at school when started primary, when I started to work, in my married life and most of all in my Faith. You lived a true example of the love your great uncle (my grandfather) taught us, kind, unselfish. Thank you cousin. May you Rest peacefully in our Lord’s Arms.
Condolences to the family and may Odette Sookram RIP.
Today I have lost my sister, my friend and my confidant you were selfless and a true example of living a Christ like life. A prayer warrior who truly understood the meaning of unconditional love . You led by example and always made each person feel that they were the one that was most special to you . While you may be gone you will forever be in my heart.
They do not make them like you anymore.
I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family. May the soul of your mother be at peace with our Heavenly Father.
The Godinez, Merino
Joel, Julie and Elizabeth.

Sending my sincere condolences to your son’s their families and all who loved Odette.
I was honoured to be in the choir with Odette and I will never forget her beautiful smile, her warm greeting each time I saw her. As described by so many your mom truly was an “angel” so present in our parish remembered for her kindness and caring ways. Even when she was visibly weak from her illness I would see her vibrant smile and she would always ask about my grandchildren. I know her family meant everything to her!!! Rest In Peace Odette you will be forever in our hearts! ❤️
My dear Odette, It is not easy to say good bye, but I know you are now in a happier place and as much as I would have enjoyed you being here much longer I couldn’t see you in pain. I am going to miss you terribly but know how much you were loved by so many of us. Rest In Peace my dear cousin and I know you will be watching over us.
My deepest condolences to Odette’s entire family. So sorry for your loss, she’s now absent from her body but present with the Lord. No more suffering and pain. Odette will be greatly missed, especially for her calm spirit and wise counsel. Words are not enough to describe her. I’m so glad I was part of her journey for decades. She welcomed me and was always loving and kind toward me. Odette will always be in my heart. My thoughts and prayers for all who are grieving.
Love and prayers always.

Although I net and got to know Odette through the friendship she had with my mom , she became a confidante through my mother’s illness and continued to be there for me through many of my ups and downs . There are so many lives she has touched with her caring and faith which she shared with each of us in different ways . I will truly miss this remarkable lady .

Today I say goodbye to my dear cousin, my confidante, my inspiration, my spiritual advisor and my best bud.
I will miss you dearly as I already have, but I know you are in a happier place since you are home with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
We shared many memories. Our pilgrimages to various destinations including the Holy Land and our many other events across the US and Europe. Being able to share these events with you made them even more special.
Although you are gone, you will never be forgotten.
Rest In Peace my dear cousin.
ODETTE..may you rest peacefully in God’s loving care.

Geoffrey, Colin and Hayden,
Sharing in your pain in the loss of a beautiful soul, your mother.
I came to know Odette through my friend Shirley. Over the years that I have known her, I have never heard her say a negative word about anyone. She was always positive and encouraging, choosing to put God first and reminding us that He was in charge.
During her last days, even though in pain and discomfort, she never complained. She was always thankful for anything that was done for her regardless of how small that act of kindness might have been. Even though she was not aware, she reminded me that we all can be a little kinder to each other. Her presence made this world a better place.
I will miss her. I loved her “Trinny Accent”. I am smiling, remembering the way she would say “girrl”.
Godspeed Odette. We will meet again.
Hi Aunty Odette,
I miss and love you immensely . It is with a heavy heart I write this note with condolences to my family . We have lost an angel but we have gained another angel in heaven protecting and watching over us . Aunty Odette was a very prayerful and loving individual . During my own health struggles she always prayed for health and strength for my family and I . I will truly miss hearing her angelic voice and kid spirit. Even on days when she was down she would always say to aunty Shirley “ this poor child having surgery again” and then she would say a prayer for me. To her boys and grandchildren I wish to extend my deepest sympathy and let you know that she was truly loved . I will forever remember the soft spoken person and private person she was. I thank God for having her all those years and know she is resting peacefully with him in heaven . May god continue to hide and protect her family . Love always . Suzette
My deepest sympathies to Odette’s family and friends.
I count it a privilege to be numbered among those she called friend. I was blessed to have crossed her path in this life cause of all the things I loved about Odette the one thing that I cherished and admired the most is her unrelenting devotion for and love for God. She inspired that same spiritual fervour in me and I’m so grateful to her for that.
So now that she’s gone on to her beloved father I can hear her saying from 1Timothy 4, 7-8
“7. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day….”.
Rest in peace Odette.
“Weeping endureth for the night but joy cometh in the morning “..
As we celebrate the life of aunt Odette, it’s not for us to question why..but we continue on in faith and trust in the midst of heartbreak…
His ways and thoughts are not ours and he’s a God of plan, purpose and timing..
We remember our loved ones who have passed on, but we pray for those who are here…
To Geoffrey, Collin and Hayden, always know that the joy of the Lord is your strength…
Condolences to Odette’s children, relatives and friends. May you find comfort in knowing that Odette is at peace and watching over you. Her gentleness and sincerity will always be remembered by Phyllis and Debbie. May you rest in peace Odette.
To Hayden& girlfriend, Jeffrey &wife, Collin & wife and all the grandchildren: It is a “great loss” to lose part with someone as precious, tender caring, loving and forgiving as your mom, Odette. Remember always she put God first, lived always doing what God asks of her in His Word. Her whole life was an example of love, goodness, forgiveness and a follower of Jesus Christ. I can still hear her laugh and the joys she shared with us. Be strong and courageous and may God overflow your lives with happy memories of your mum! Condolences from aunty Lydia, Kevin, Kolvin and Kerwin.
May you RIP Aunty
To Colin,Hayden and Jeffery may the light of God shine on you all this very moment, may aunty Odette rip with her angles are beside her…Aunty was a great mother and a aunt to all..blessing to you all. From uncle Joe and the Sookram families God bless.
Odette was a very important person in my life, I will always remember 1992 when I stayed there which was like a second home for me. In 2004 my my son was in hospital for 95 days she prayed for him everyday. You will be truly missed and nothing I can say or do to make things better so I choose to remember the goods times and celebrate your life may your soul Rest In Peace
Odette I never had a chance to say goodbye. I will always be grateful to have found a friend in you. You were like a mother to me, consoling and inspiring me with your deep faith in God. I miss you dearly. Forever in my heart.
