elevated TiqqC How does one summarize 96 years of life?

elevated TiqqC Dad grew up in a tiny farming community in central Italy, where each day was marked by hard work and time with family.  As a result of the devastation left by the war, he sought to find a better life for his wife and two children.  He moved his family to Toronto, where finding a job was no problem for someone used to manual labour.  His first job was with Toronto Cemeteries, digging graves by hand. He then moved to a position with the Toronto Transit Commission, from which he retired after 25 years of service.

elevated TiqqC Casual acquaintances will know that he was a funny and sociable man.   Those who knew him well also know that he cared for his wife through many illnesses, all the while maintaining his sense of humour.   He loved children and was so blessed to have lived long enough to enjoy his two great grandchildren.  Even the neighbourhood kids called him Nonno.

elevated TiqqC Never a person to sit still for too long, Dad was always available to help others with household projects.   From family members to neighbours, he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand.

elevated TiqqC Family, traditions, humour, being active … these qualities allowed him to live a long, full life.

elevated TiqqC At this time, due to restrictions, the funeral will be a private family service.

elevated TiqqC In lieu of flowers, for those of you wishing to do so, donations to the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket, Ontario http://myhospice.ca/ would be greatly appreciated.
