I spoke to Paul about 3 days ago he had given me his condolence on behalf of my father. I lost my Dad May 2nd. And now I get this sad news about Paul. Not fair. Rest In Peace my friend.
Such shocking news if there was ever a guy that I thought would outlive us all it was Paul.
We worked together at Davenport Division, played soccer and hockey together at The TTC.
A great person who deserved a long happy retirement.
R.I.P.
Paul such a fine fellow , good dancer too and a good husband .Far too young for this loss for your wife .
Such a great man …lots of patience and always trying to make you better and strive for more …miss those hockey days. TTC and Oakville were lucky to have you and I had the pleasure of working with you at both !!!! Gone to soon. RIP my friend

I was so sad to hear of Paul’s passing. Having known Paul for many years and recently speaking with him, I always found Paul to be a very kind, thoughtful and very caring person. He will be greatly missed. I send my deepest condolences to all his family and close friends at this sad time.
Paul was an incredibly positive influence when I first joined Oakville Transit. I always looked up to him, and he will be dearly missed. My deepest condolences to his family and friends; he was a truly great man
My sincerest heartfelt condolences to Eva, Danielle, Alex and the entire family. His magnetic personality drew people to Paul. He had a generous, loving spirit and shared lots of smiles and laughter with everyone.
RIP Paul, I’m sorry you had to go so soon.
I had the opportunity to work with Paul Smith both in the subway and at the Operations Training Centre. Paul brought a steady presence, deep operational knowledge, and a strong commitment to safety and service. His calm leadership and ability to mentor others made a lasting impact on those around him. It was a pleasure working alongside him.
My story comes from recess at St. Greg’s. It seemed like we played ball hockey every recess through grade 7 and 8. Back then, hockey sticks were allowed in school.
There were two intermediate classes and 2 paved areas for hockey. One area was preferred because it had fencing, the ball didn’t go astray, the other did not. Each class would pick runners to claim the preferred area. At the sound of the bell, they would blast out of the classroom and sprint down the hall…Paul was often first out the door.
Paul was a key player and often got picked early for teams. Probably due to his seemingly endless positive energy. He was a team player, passing the ball and setting up goal opportunities. He was a good stick handler and quick on his feet.
Rest in peace Paul
My condolences to his family
