elevated Trbxl December 15, 1935 – July 8, 2021

elevated Trbxl It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Christopher Donovan on July 8, 2021, at the age of 85 at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Beloved husband of 47 years to Shirley Donovan (nee Warren), loving and devoted father to Catherine (Derrick) Osborn, and Michael (Tanya) Donovan, and adoring grandfather to Charlotte Osborn, and Ava and Hunter Donovan. Paul is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary Kate (nee Horgan) Donovan, and his sister Mary Donovan.

elevated Trbxl Paul was an original Torontonian, born and raised, with proud Irish roots. He was a man of integrity, who valued family above all else. Paul was loving, kind, generous and loyal. Shirley was the love of his life, his best friend, and his rock. Catherine and Michael were the greatest joy of his life. Paul loved them dearly and he was so very proud of them and his three beautiful grandkids. Family was always his first priority.

elevated Trbxl Paul was very bright; a fountain of knowledge and an avid reader, who enjoyed books on every topic spanning history to physics. His children frequently consulted him over the years to discuss or debate issues on a plethora of subjects. Paul also had a terrific sense of humour and a quick wit. He was a lover of crossword puzzles, music, the performing arts, and the good ol’ hockey game! Paul was well liked by others and highly regarded by his colleagues at Shell Canada, where he enjoyed an illustrious 35-year career.

elevated Trbxl Paul is to be commended for his courage and strength during his 10+ years battle with kidney disease. The deep love he had for his family, his strong faith in God, and his ability to find the humour in things, served him well to the very end. Paul was a trooper, an inspiration to others, and much loved. He will be fondly remembered by all who had the good fortune to know him, and he will be forever missed by his family. God bless you, Paul/Dad. We love you; you have been an incredible blessing in our lives, and you will never be forgotten.

elevated Trbxl Due to COVID restrictions, a private funeral service will be held on July 14, 2021, at Holy Cross Cemetery.  A Catholic mass followed by a Celebration of Life will be organized at a later date. If desired, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
