elevated tAsRp Obituary
elevated tAsRp Peter Scott passed away on July 17, 2018 at the age of 82.
elevated tAsRp After two years in the British Army, where he learned to be a leader of men and a crushing table-tennis player, Peter immigrated to Canada from England. After joining the Toronto Police Force, he met a vivacious and caring emergency nurse Rose Marie and they began a lifelong romance that held strong for fifty-six years of marriage.
elevated tAsRp Peter’s intelligence and industry led him to be the Deputy Chief of the Toronto Police Force and the Acting Chief of York Region. During His time on the force, he was a black-belt karate instructor and an opposing foe on the rugby field and volleyball court.
elevated tAsRp Not only was Peter a talented leader and athletic, he was an accomplished craftsman: building house additions, barns and furniture. His skills and generosity meant he was called on often by neighbors, friends and family for issues electrical, automotive and mechanical. As one of the most talented dart players in York Region, with numerous league-winning trophies, Peter volunteered countless hours as “Mentor Scott” teaching dart clinics at the Chinese Dart Association and the Multicultural Dart Association.
elevated tAsRp But more than that, Peter was an anchor to his family, including his three children: Ann Marie, Dianne and Stephen and their spouses Ian, Michael and Susan. His most esteemed title was “Grandpa” or “Baba” to seven grandchildren: Scott, Faith, Claire, Matthew, Chantel, Ethan and André. Our family of fifteen spent many hours together at the “Pond” for celebrations, tractor rides and barn parties.
elevated tAsRp We mourn the loss of this charitable family man; we are glad his pain has ended, and every time we think of him, we will be inspired to be kind and to choose integrity.
elevated tAsRp In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant House or the Newmarket Food Pantry.
Peter was one of the most truly kind and genuine gentlemen it has been my honour and privilege to have known, and played bothbwith and against in darts in York Region and the Aurora Newmarket Dart League. His loss will leave a hole that can and will never be filled. Rest in peace, my friend…and I’ll see you on the other side.
I met Peter while watching my friend play darts. He was a beautiful person!
I hadn’t seen him in awhile because we weren’t playing darts anymore. He was all things good and kind. A lost to the world! I’m so very sorry for your lost!!!
To know him was to love him 🙏
I knew Peter from darts. He was a top notch shot and so very giving of his time and expertise. I learned much about leadership from him. I will miss him.
Peter was one of the true gentlemen of the game of darts. I will always remember his kindness and generosity of his time and expertise. His loss will be felt deeply throughout our dart community. Rest in peace, sir.
Peter was a true gentleman. An excellent dart player who always encouraged you and gave you tips and inspiration. A kind man with a beautiful smile. He will be greatly missed by all the dart communities. We all looked up to Peter for his leadership and just his presence.
I met Peter a few times while he was offering free training to some new players in Markham. He found him to be a thorough gentleman in the few interactions I had with him.
May the Lord grant him Eternal Peace
We were neighbors to Peter and Rose Marie on Herald Rd. I loved his quick wit along with his English tales! He was most definitely one of a kind. We remember him first working on his house and there must have been a cracked toilet in the garbage every week for about a month….the furnace would give up when he wasn’t there. He and Rose Marie worked on their nest so hard to make it just right. Heaven has received a new angel.
Our heart felt sympathies to Rose Marie and family ❤
Having good neighbors is always a great thing. To have a true gentleman as a neighbor is a blessing. We are forever grateful to have known Peter and have the past 13 years of shared stories and chat about numerous life experiences. You will be greatly missed my friend! Diane and I express our most sincere condolences to Rose Marie and all of the family. Rest in peace Peter!
I loved talking with Peter after the darts were finished. I learned a lot.
I’ll miss him very much.
I will deeply miss talking with Peter. As the prior Manager of the Police Credit Union in Newmarket I used to smile as he walked into our branch. He would sit in my office and tell me stories from his time with the force and living in England. He loved his family and had many wonderful stories to tell of his time with his grandchildren and children. He will be truly missed and I want to extend my condolences to the whole family.
Peter was a great guy, I remember playing against him in the bachelor of darts tournament where he beat me 3-1 in the final. A few years later I met him again in the legion senior darts, where i played him in the final but this time i got him 3-1. Great man. Rest in peace Peter.
I will deeply missed Police Chief Peter ‘Mentor’ Scott. We shared at lot of fun memories for the past three decades of playing, talking and teaching darts to would be players all over the globe. You are truly a legend, gentleman, kind, understanding and respectful to all kinds of people. We both enjoyed every moment of sharing our life experiences. You will forever remain in my heart as your legacy continues. May your soul rest in eternal peace with our creator.

Grandpa had a good sense of humour. He was very patient and liked to spend time with his family. He liked to teach us new things. He would try stuff whether he knew how to do it or not. I love you Grandpa. Love André
