elevated BYoIQ It is with heartfelt sadness that we mourn the loss of our stepmom and friend Phyllis, who left us peacefully on January 16th,

elevated BYoIQ She was predeceased by her beloved husband Sean, and cousin Maura Bourke (Michael/Cormac). She will be dearly missed by her family Gerry (Nancy), Sean (Monique), Alice (Bob), James, Ann (Bruce), Edmund and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephew Michael and the Gorman/Quinn Clans in Ireland. Also left to grieve are the friends that became family: Maureen, Colleen and Sean, and her dear friends Elizabeth, Victor and Liza.

elevated BYoIQ Phyllis was born in Dublin, Ireland and moved to Co. Donegal as a young girl. It was there that she gained a love for animals, nature, cups of tea, Irish wheaten soda bread and the colour green! She later trained as a nurse in England before immigrating to Canada. Her love for Ireland and Irish culture blossomed in her new home.  And with her marriage to Sean in 1985, she fully committed to honouring the Irish Community, with decades of service to the Langan-Gorman branch of Comhaltas Ceóltoirí Éireann and the Canada Eastern Region.

elevated BYoIQ The medical care that Phyllis received in her illness was exceptional, both at North York General and more recently at Sunnybrook. We are indebted to Dr.Betty Choi Fung for her decades of gentle care and genuine friendship with Phyllis. A special thank you to Elizabeth for her unconditional love and dedication to ensuring Phyllis’ comfort and dignity throughout her illness. The prayers, rosaries and masses said for Phyllis at her parish, St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, have been greatly appreciated.

elevated BYoIQ A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 75 Churchill Ave, North York on Tuesday February 13, 2024 at 11:00 am.

elevated BYoIQ In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, one of the many charities that Phyllis generously supported for many years.

elevated BYoIQ Phyllis – you were loved – and you will be missed. May God hold you gently in the palm of his hand.
