elevated l9KUz Obituary

elevated l9KUz It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Pierluigi Dell’Orto. He departed on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the age of 94 in Toronto, Ontario. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Giovanna, and daughter Marzia (Joe). Proud and devoted Nonno to Robert and Nadia, he was elated when Robert was born, as he finally had someone to pass down his cherished fishing rods to, a sentiment he fulfilled. He also took great pride in Nadia’s dedication to her studies in pursuit of becoming a lawyer.

elevated l9KUz Pierluigi was born in Milano, Italy, and immigrated to Canada via Halifax in 1956. His work on the railways led him to Churchill, Manitoba, and later to Chapais, Quebec, near Chibougamau, where he worked in the coal mines. Eventually, he settled in Toronto, where he met my mother, Giovanna, and they married on December 17, 1960. Besides being a loving Nonno, one of his greatest passions was fishing and hunting. He enjoyed traveling with my mother, sharing his love for cooking with his family (he made the best risotto!), and reveled in the outdoors.

elevated l9KUz On weekends, you would find him at Lake Simcoe, fishing or ice-fishing depending on the season. Every fall, he pursued his love for fishing in the Gulf of Mexico at Clearwater Beach, Florida. My father had a deep love and respect for nature. Dad, I will miss you.
