It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raimonds (“Ray”) Bulte, a beloved and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the age of 98. Raimonds is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ada, and his three daughters, Sarmite, Vija, Liana, and their respective families. He took immense pride in his cherished grandchildren. Raimonds is also survived by his sister Ausma, and his brother, Magonis, and respective families, who reside in Latvia.
Raimonds was born in Latvia and then immigrated to Canada, but he also worked abroad. While working in Latvia, he led the restoration of the “Freedom Monument” in Riga, for which he was awarded the Order of the Three Stars by then President of Latvia, Vaira Vike-Freiberga. Raimonds was also actively involved in the Latvian Canadian community and his fraternity, Selonija. Raimonds will be deeply missed by his family and friends in Canada and abroad. He will always be remembered as a hard-working, kind, gracious, and charming person who was always the ultimate gentleman.
A funeral service commemorating and celebrating Raimonds’ life will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Assumption Catholic Cemetery in the funeral home chapel, 6933 Tomken Road, Mississauga, ON.
To the Family of Raimonds Bulte,
Upon meeting Ray, it was immediately clear to us the kind of warm and welcoming person he was. The brief encounter we had with him left a lasting impression, and we can only imagine the depth of your loss.
During this difficult time, please know that our thoughts are with you and your family. The stories and memories shared by Sam have always highlighted not just the family’s love for Ray but also the admirable qualities he possessed.
