elevated JBx7H Richard Michael Morra passed peacefully to his heavenly home, enveloped in the love of his family.
elevated JBx7H Richard lived with a fullness of love and a particularly strong bond with family: with his parents Grace and Rocco; his brother Robert; his cousins, aunts, and uncles; his sister-in-law Diane Francoeur and nieces Michelle and Joanne; his adopted Egan family – and his wife of 55 years, Sheila [Egan] and their children Irene, Roy (Ping), and Lenore.
elevated JBx7H Born in North Toronto, Richard graduated from St. Michael’s College School and was the first in his family to attend university; he was a proud alumnus of St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto, where he studied and later taught Modern Languages. He was a treasured colleague and teacher (French and English) at Holy Name of Mary Secondary School in Mississauga for over 25 years, where his many contributions stretched within and beyond the classroom. Possessor of a legendarily keen critical eye, he also knew that everyone is born with unique and different gifts: he inspired generations of students to work towards achieving their full and individual potential.
elevated JBx7H Richard’s love of the beautiful was apparent in everything he did, from his musicianship and photography to his love of languages and literature, to his impeccable sense of dress. He grew up with a profound dislike of waste and excess – and an ingenious ability to fix, repair, and invent.
elevated JBx7H Richard inhabited many roles and modelled their complementarity with humility, generosity, and a constant appetite for learning more: drafter, designer, and builder; scholar and teacher; carpenter and electrician; master grammarian, linguist, and historian; tireless problem-solver, creator, and innovator. He was equally at home listening to Deutsche Grammophon records and watching The Blues Brothers; fine-tuning photos in a darkroom; navigating back roads on a motorcycle; perfecting techniques on the guitar or mandolin; sharing a literary description in German, French, Italian, or English; planning travel itineraries to the closest detail; enjoying fellowship and fun with family and friends; creating intricate inventions; and designing, building, and finishing fine furniture.
elevated JBx7H Most striking of all, he was a good man, a “gentleman” without guile who modelled civility, kindness, and compassion by treating others with respect, openness, and generosity informed by a quiet and anchoring faith.
elevated JBx7H To the very end of his time with us, Richard touched everyone with his intelligence, keen appreciation of detail, mischievous sense of humour – and with the overwhelming strength of his embrace. The prophet Micah assures us that God asks of us “just this, and only this: to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with our God.” Richard has followed this path all his life. May he rejoice in the fullness of eternal love.
elevated JBx7H In lieu of flowers, donations made to ShareLife would be greatly appreciated by his family.

My sincere condolences to Eileen and his family . Rick was a beloved teacher at Holy Name of Mary, always a gentleman , kind and considerate of both his fellow teachers and students
Rick was a remarkable man and colleague. Even though decades have passed, I remember his kindness.
My condolences to the entire Morra family. I had the pleasure of working with Rick at HNM for many years. Favourite memory was seeing him enjoying a motorcycle ride. Hugs to all.
My sincere condolences to Sheila, Irene, Roy and Lenore. He was a wonderful colleague and friend. He will be missed.
Rick was the definition of class and kindness. His legacy at Holy Name was that of academic curiosity and a gentle spirit. He will be remembered fondly. My condolences go out to his beloved family. May God welcome him into His kingdom.
My condolences to the Morra family on the passing of your father. Mr. Morra was my French teacher at Holy Name of Mary and I fondly remember his patience and his gentle smile during our lessons. I was in the same year as his daughter Lenore, and I pray that the memories comfort her, her siblings and her mom during this difficult time. May God welcome him into His arms.
My Condolences to the Morra family. I didnt have him as a teacher, but I did know him personally through his daughter Irene. He was a great man, very kind, loving, and very very quiet. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this hard time. ❤️❤️
M. Morra…I will forever remember my French classes with him, and how he would teach us when to remember to use the subjonctif! Volonté, necessité, sentiment, doute 🥲…Rest in Peace Mr Morra. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
My heartfelt condolences to Mr Morra’s family. He was my French teacher at HNM and I remember his passion for teaching. I remember spending my lunch hours with Lenore practicing conjugations. The French I still remember was all his doing. I’m really sorry for your loss.
Mr. Morra was one of the kindest teachers I had the privilege of learning from at HNM; a true gentleman in every sense of the word.
I will always remember him fondly, especially for his thoughtful teaching style he showed to his students.
My heartfelt condolences go out to the Morra family, the HNM community, and everyone who was blessed to know him.
May the many cherished memories of him bring comfort in the days ahead.
Requiescat in pace cum Christo, Mr. Morra.
Our sincere condolences to the whole family!
RIP Rick
As a mother of daughters who attended HNM, I know that Mr Morra made a beautiful impact on those he taught. May he rest in peace, knowing that he has been God’s “good and faithful servant”, and may those who grieve his passing be consoled by the loving arms of God.
My condolences to the entire Morra family on their loss. Mr Morra was such a wonderful French teacher. I was just thinking of our Grade 13 French class and how he praised us during our culminating speeches. He carried himself always with tremendous dignity, he certainly stood out.
My deepest condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Morra. I have very fond memories of him as my grade 9 French teacher at HNM. I remember his homemade speaker he would hook up to a mic and use when he had a sore throat. Or cleaning the blackboard with yellow rubber cleaning gloves. He was such a kind man that will be missed.
Mr. Morra, I remember your smile and your kindness. Thank you for helping nourish my love of French. May you rest in peace and your family find comfort during this difficult time.
