It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Lombardo (nee Macchiusi), who left this world surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 9, 1942 in Sora, Italy and passed away on May 7, 2026 in Vaughan, Ontario. Rita was the devoted soul mate of her husband, Salvatore. Even in the later stages of her illness, her heart remained steadfast, as she recognized and called only for him, always ready to greet him with a kiss. Their love story is one of deep devotion, exemplified by the tender care Salvatore provided throughout their life together, especially during her illness.

Rita was a dedicated mother to her three daughters, Angela, AnnaMaria (Peter), and Daniela (Joseph), who will carry on her legacy and cherish the many memories they created together. Her grandchildren—Vincent, Alessia (Michael), Isabella (Daniel), Emily, Emma, Francesca, Gabriella, and Elena—will forever hold dear the many “Ritaisms,” the stories, the songs and the abundant love she showered upon them. They will ensure her memory lives on in the next generation, including her great-granddaughters Sienna, Evie, and Ella.
