Robert A. Emond (also known as Robert Gustave Emond)

November 26, 1929 – March 14, 2019

On March 14, 2019, Robert (Bob) Emond passed away peacefully at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga at the age of 89 years old.  Bob will be lovingly missed by his adoring life partner, Olga.  He was a beloved father figure to Laurie, Leslie, Janice and Derek.  He was a cherished grandpa to Kerrie, Ashley, Daniel, Vanessa, Kayla, and Phelan (deceased) and great-grandpa to Brooks. Bob is survived by his brother Gus, sister Bunny, godson Robert, daughters Susan and Karen, grandchildren Sarah, Linda, Jordan, and Ian and great grandson, Jack. He is the son of the late Charles and Yvonne Emond and is predeceased by siblings, Lucille, Charles, Paul, Françoise, Jacqueline, and John.

Bob spent more than 50 years of his life devoted to serving his community. He served in many capacities as a member of the Mississauga Cooksville Lions Club and will be greatly missed by his Lions family. Robert was inducted in Hong Kong as a Lions Governor of District A11. He served as Chairman of LCIF and President within various clubs in Ontario. Bob was honoured with a Lifetime Membership with Lions International and was a Life Member of Camp Dorset. He was recognized for his 40+ years of service by the Canadian Cancer Society. Bob was a recipient of The Melvin Jones Fellowship, The Helen Keller Fellowship and the Civic Award of Recognition for his commitment to volunteerism from past Mayor Hazel McCallion of Mississauga. Camp Trillium for Cancer Children was particularly dear to his heart. In honour of his contributions to Camp Trillium, a street was named after him, the “Robert Emond Street.” Most recently, in 2016, Bob received the MBC Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteerism. He continues to inspire others through his legacy in service and will be remembered for many years to come.

A special thank you to Dr. Kobulnik and his team in the Cardiology Department at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto for their expertise, care and treatment of Bob over the last 4 years.

A Memorial Service will be held at Assumption Chapel at 6933 Tomken Road, Mississauga on Saturday, March 30th at 1:00pm with reception to follow.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Camp Trillium – Childhood Cancer Support Centre.
