elevated DJBEF It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rosa Iaconis, who died peacefully in Toronto, Ontario, on August 28, 2026, at the age of 102. Born in Ferruzzano, Italy, on June 19, 1924, Rosa emigrated to Canada in 1953, where she built a life defined by hard work, sacrifice, and quiet devotion. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Francesco Iaconis, whom she cherished for 39 years, by her son Lenny, by her brother Rocco, by her son-in-law Domenic, and by her sister-in-law Angela.
elevated DJBEF Rosa was the devoted mother of Carmela, Mary (Frank), and Joe (Elena); the beloved grandmother of Rosie, Jason, Michael, Frankie, Robert, Lenny, Michael, Christina, and Frankie; and the proud great-grandmother of eighteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Francesco, Teresa (Gaetano), and Pasquale (Maria), and by her sister-in-law Elvira, all of whom she held close to her heart throughout her life. She was cherished not only by her immediate family but also by extended relatives, neighbours, and friends who were welcomed into her home with the same warmth and generosity she offered her own children and grandchildren.
elevated DJBEF Her 102 years told the story of a generation that understood the meaning of hard work, sacrifice, perseverance, and above all, family. Throughout her life, Rosa worked tirelessly and sacrificed greatly so her children could have opportunities and a better life. Caring for family and others was simply who she was. Her hands were rarely still, always finding something more she could do for the people she loved. She was an avid gardener and an exceptional cook, known for the traditions she preserved and the comfort she created in her home.
elevated DJBEF Rosa’s greatest legacy cannot be measured in years but in the generations who came after her, living on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and in the traditions they will continue. Although saying goodbye to someone who has been part of our lives for so long is incredibly difficult, we find comfort in knowing that her life was one of tremendous purpose. She gave so much of herself to others, and the love she poured into her family for more than a century will remain with us always. After 102 remarkable years, may she now rest peacefully, surrounded by the love she so generously gave throughout her life.
