elevated 3sHuW LOCONTE, Rosa – It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing the passing of Rosa Loconte. In her 92nd year on May 3, 2021, Rosa took her last breath peacefully. Wife of the late Frank Loconte and mother of the late Michael Loconte, Rosa leaves behind daughter, Sara, son-in-law Tony, daughter-in-law Carolyn, and her four grandchildren whom she adored and cherished: Andrew, Cody, Melissa, and Jonathan. Because of her warmness, she touched many hearts, and she is leaving behind many family members and dear friends including her siblings, her nieces and nephews, and her family friends. Rosa was described by those around her as selfless, caring, and resilient. Even through difficult times, her faith provided her with a sense of inner strength as seen by her glowing smile right up until the end. Our Bella, Rosa, was a mother to everyone, acting as a role model and great inspiration. Ever-loving and ever-giving, Rosa was known for her open-door house, where she shared her excellent cooking skills and love for crafting delicious dishes with her guests. Even at 91, her tenacity and her passion for sewing were so apparent as she was still able to thread a needle and sew beautiful butterflies. Her love lives on and will always remain in our hearts. Rosa was our Queen because she was truly our family jewel – rare, precious, and strong.
elevated 3sHuW Thank you to the caring team of St. Michael’s Hospital staff, who cared for her during her final days, ensuring that she was comfortable. Thank you to the team of caregivers who kept her youthful, especially her current team of Millie, Wendie, Alicia, and Liezel who was there from the beginning of her care journey.
elevated 3sHuW Due to COVID-19, the visitation and funeral service are closed to the family. Instead of attending, the family asks that friends and family of Rosa say a prayer for her and join the livestream of her funeral service. The live stream link can be viewable on Rosa’s online memorial page at www.catholic-cemeteries.ca. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to one of the causes close to Rosa’s heart, being the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or the hospitals that have helped Rosa with her care, namely St. Michael’s, Sunnybrook, and Michael Garron, especially in these unprecedented times. Rosa echoed her late son’s memory by performing random acts of kindness. To honour her, the family asks that friends and family carry on her legacy by helping the elderly people in their lives.

Although we are saddened by the news of the passing of Rosa, warm memories return of wonderful times shared at the always welcoming Loconte house in Leaside. From watching Frank carefully tend to his beloved backyard garden, to Rosa whipping up those delicious panzerottis in her basement kitchen, their home was always a pleasure to visit. It was an honour to know them both. We take comfort in knowing Rosa will be welcomed into Heaven with the open arms of Frank and Michael. Our deepest condolences, Kim and Roland Borchert.
To Sara, Tony, Melissa and Jonathan, our sincerest condolences on the death of your dear Mom and Nonna. May God rest her soul and give you peace. The Zanin Family.
Sara & Family, Your tribute to Rosa is a beautiful one, and Father celebrated a lovely Mass and delivered a most fitting homily in her honour.
