PUSATERI, Rosa – On Wednesday, August 20,2025, passed away peacefully in her 94th year with family by her side. Known as a wife, mother, sister, daughter, sister-in-law, godmother and friend she is now reunited with those she loved and cherished who left this world before her: Frank and Lena (parents), Pasquale (husband), Mary (Daughter), Frank (Son), Stephen (Grandson), Nicola & Salvatore (Brothers). Survived by son Agostino (Aida); daughter Lina (Fred), daughter Cindy (France) and six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
elevated PKtTC Born in Termini Imerese, Sicily Rosa received a grade 3 education and learned the value of hard work early in her life. She was a woman of strength, determination, endless energy and many described her as one tough cookie with sparkle in her eyes. It was this character that attracted her husband, Pasquale Pusateri. They were married at the age of 18 and 20 years old. They immigrated to Canada shortly afterwards with a one-year-old in 1953. With limited English she found work and was such a very hard worker. By the time she had five children-three girls and two boys, she also had two or three jobs to ensure they had all the necessities of life provided to them. Rosa became the main breadwinner due to her husband’s illness. Because of her tenacity and gift with numbers she figured out how to pay off the mortgage in short order. There was so much to admire in this amazing woman. Rosa became a wonderful baker and many desired her cookies for various holidays and occasions.
elevated PKtTC She loved working at Cooper Canada where she made hockey and baseball equipment. There she made many friends all Italian who helped each other during the challenging years. After retiring many of those friendships endured.
elevated PKtTC Rosa loved to dance to traditional Italian music and learned to appreciate travel late in life. Wherever she travelled she would be addressed endearingly as Mamma Rosa. She would inevitably become the life of the party.
elevated PKtTC Late in life she developed dementia, however always had her long-term memory and continued to share stories when they came to her.
elevated PKtTC Special thanks to the absolutely wonderful team who took care of her in the Cedar Grove Unit at the John M. Parrott Centre in Napanee, Ontario during the last year and a half. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Our deepest condolences for your loss, will keep you all in our prayers.
