She was preceded in death by her husband Pei Tcheng (Augustin) Lieou.

elevated oJoW7 She has lived in Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Canada. Suet Hien met Pei Tcheng when he started his medical career in Saigon, and it was love at first sight. They became the perfect partners in life. Pei Tcheng was a well-respected surgeon. Suet Hien was the loving wife and homemaker who made that possible, and managed everything else in the household with great energy and a steady hand.

elevated oJoW7 She raised four children, cared deeply for all of them, and made sure they had the opportunity to receive the best education possible. Later in life, her devotion shifted from her children to all her grand-children. She bought them treats and presents, and delighted in seeing them and spending time with them. During Chinese New Year, she would spend hours reserving a table at a Chinese restaurant just to give her grand-kids the chance to see the dragon dance.

elevated oJoW7 Throughout her life, she exhibited great athleticism and sportiveness. She was an 18 year old basketball star who represented her North Vietnamese region in a regional basketball tournament in Hong Kong. Then as a homemaker in her mid-thirties, she won the women’s badminton doubles championship at the Cercle Sportif in Saigon. Later in life, Suet Hien and Pei Tcheng picked up ballroom dancing in a serious way, and were celebrated as the eighty something year old couple who did a virtuoso paso doble routine.

elevated oJoW7 She had a big personality. She has always been the brightest and most vibrant person of whatever room she entered, clothed in sequined blouses patterned with multi-foliate roses, and touting the latest news or gossip of our extended family and friends.
