It is with deep sorrow, respect and love that we mourn the passing of Ted Joseph Banar, age 92 on Monday, August 18th, 2025. Loving Husband of pre-deceased wife, Hedy Mary Banar (nee Kostorowski). Cherished father of Teresa Anne Banar, with husband Kelly Overholt Manson, and Janice Marie Zajac, with late husband, Richard Zajac. Ted is also pre-deceased by his beloved brothers, Ron, Ben and Joe Blotnicky. If there’s a “Downsview” in Heaven, that’s where you’ll find them…together at long last.

So sorry for your loss cousin Janice and Teresa. He’s now with the love of his life Aunt Hedi and wonderful son in-law Richard. Be strong.
Thank you, Laurie, for reaching out like this. Appreciate it and I hope to see you on Wednesday if you can make it. My Dad’s with his 3 Brothers now and my Mom at long last. Family meant everything to him. Take care!
Uncle Ted you will always be in my memories. I often think back to the times we would visit and you would show me your trains. I loved those times.
Sincere condolences Theresa and Janice
Uncle Ben will always be in my memories, too! All of those fascinating fish tanks in the basement got me interested in collecting tropical fish and birds, too. And that swimming pool you had, Rick, was to die for on a hot summer day. Well, thank you for your kind thoughts. Say “hi” to Sidney Crosby for me!
Thank you for your flower arrangement – it was gorgeous & I made sure it decorated the Chapel for my Dad’s final Mass to celebrate his life. In lieu of cards/emails, please accept this thank you for my Auntie Bett, Karen & Jim, Mike & Karen and Laura & Rick and extended branches of your Family on our behalf. Family was everything to my Dad….always remember that facet of his personality. Be well & be happy!
My condolences to Theresa and families

Thank you, Wanda, for thinking of me at this time. You’ve been a wonderful friend for all of these years. Through good times and bad, you’ve been there for me. I wish you’d met my Dad. We can chat at Timmies one days soon. Bless you, my Friend!
Dear Teresa and Janice. My sincerest condolences for the loss of your father. May God help you find peace and comfort during this very difficult time. Teresa, I am so sorry I cannot be there for you today but my thoughts and prayers are with you always my dearest oldest friend ❤️❤️
Thank you, Maria, for your kind thoughts and prayers at this time. I was wondering if you’d “walk through the door” at Holy Cross yesterday….and then I would simply have broken down, for sure, just seeing you standing there, the way you always have in good times and in bad. I’m been thinking of you over the past couple of weeks because my Dad thought the world of you, by the way. I think it is your sense of honor, commitment to family values, honesty and love that you bring out in people around you. My Dad thanks you for that, Maria. You’re a family friend we could simply never be without. Bless YOU, my dearest, oldest & wisest Friend! XOXO
