In Loving Memory of Teresa Vocino (née Liuzzi)
elevated tpgKV It is with heavy hearts and immense love that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, Nonna, sister, and friend, Teresa Vocino (née Liuzzi), who passed away peacefully with her family by her side in Toronto on May 30, 2026, at the age of 84.
elevated tpgKV Born on February 24, 1942, in Apricena, Foggia, Italy, to Incoronata and Antonio Liuzzi. Teresa’s life began during a time of war and hardship. Those early years shaped the remarkable woman she would become. Strong, resilient, hardworking, and deeply devoted to the people she loved.
elevated tpgKV Teresa leaves behind her beloved husband of 62 years, Giuseppe. She is survived by her children Mike (Sylvia), Tony (Lisa), John (Lucy), Robert (Tia), and Cori (Joe); and by her cherished grandchildren Kayla, Stephanie (Tyler), Joseph (Alana), Sara (Luke), Matthew, Shannon, Tiana, Lucas, Alyssa, Vanessa, John Jr., Danielle, Justin, Nicole, Marco, and Christian.
elevated tpgKV Teresa grew up in Apricena alongside her siblings, Maria, Antoinetta, and Michele. As a young woman, she worked as a seamstress, a profession she genuinely loved. Following the loss of her father, Teresa immigrated to Toronto with her family in 1960, carrying with her the courage and determination that would define her life. Like so many immigrants, she arrived with dreams of a better future and immediately went to work, helping support her family at a shoe company while they built a new life in Canada.
elevated tpgKV It was during these early years in Toronto that Teresa’s path would change through a simple introduction. A friend told her about a hardworking young man named Giuseppe Vocino, living in Italy, who would later become her husband. After a year of writing letters, Giuseppe came to Canada in 1963, and on February 1, 1964, they married.
elevated tpgKV Over the years they welcomed five children. Mike, Tony, John, Robert, and finally their cherished daughter, Cori. While Giuseppe worked tirelessly as a stone mason to provide for the family, Teresa devoted herself to creating a home filled with warmth, love, and unwavering support.
elevated tpgKV To her family, Teresa was everything.
elevated tpgKV She was the heart that kept everyone together. Teresa maintained a structured and value-centered home and believed in teaching respect and responsibility.
elevated tpgKV Her kitchen was the center of countless family gatherings, and her cooking became the language through which she expressed her love. Her pizza was legendary, but it was the love behind every meal that made it unforgettable.
elevated tpgKV Nothing brought her more happiness than being a Nonna. Her grandchildren were her world. She helped raise many of them and loved every one of them equally and completely. To them, she was more than a grandmother. She was a source of strength, wisdom, comfort, and unconditional love.
elevated tpgKV While our hearts ache with her loss, we are grateful for the gift of having been loved by her. Teresa taught us the importance of family, sacrifice, generosity, and perseverance. She showed us that love is not measured by words alone, but by the countless daily acts of care that make a family strong.
elevated tpgKV She was our heart, our home, and our greatest blessing.
elevated tpgKV She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and endlessly loved.
elevated tpgKV “Ti porteremo sempre nei nostri cuori.” – “We will carry you in our hearts forever.”
elevated tpgKV The family gratefully welcomes donations in Teresa’s memory to the Alzheimer Society, a cause that is deeply meaningful to her
