elevated f7qHB Beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Theresa Young Sook Kim, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in the late afternoon of March 16, 2021. She was 74.
elevated f7qHB She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Anthony Sung Jin Kim, her children, Anna Kim and Teddy Kim, her grandchild, Teddy’s son, Tyson Kim, all of Toronto, her older brother, Jeong Soo Lee, younger brother Joo Young Lee, both of Daegu, South Korea, younger sister, Hyun Sook Lee, of Jakarta, Indonesia, and baby sister, Julia Myong Sook Suh of West Kelowna, British Columbia.
elevated f7qHB She worked hard all her life, running a convenience store, A&T Variety, with her husband, “Tony”, seven days a week in the Junction for 28 years, and later a retail post office, Black Creek Postal Outlet, for over a decade. She took care of her husband, children and raised her grandchild, Tyson, from infancy to young adulthood, whom she doted upon and of whom she was very proud.
elevated f7qHB Loyal and loving, funny and thoughtful, gentle and kind, a dutiful Catholic and warm presence in all our lives, our family will miss her dearly and mourn her loss deeply.
elevated f7qHB She told engaging stories of her childhood growing up during the Korean civil war, and yet she never complained about her experiences. She loved to laugh and she did so heartily, and her most important wish in the world was for her children to be at peace and live in harmony. We take comfort that she is no longer in pain or suffering, surrounded by her beloved parents and family members that have passed on, enveloped in God’s pure love and light.
elevated f7qHB A private burial service will be held on Saturday, April 10 at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Mississauga for her immediate family only: her husband, children and grandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you continue to take the pandemic seriously, diligently follow public health orders, and get vaccinated when it’s your turn. Our parents took every precaution to protect themselves, their family and their community. No family should have to experience a loss like this which took our lovely mother so shockingly and much too soon.
elevated f7qHB If COVID restrictions allow and the pandemic permits, we hope to hold a memorial service later this summer, where we can gather safely and share stories of Theresa together.
elevated f7qHB God willing, we can remember her and celebrate the amazing and unique person she was, and comfort each other in person.

Theresa was the greatest big sister anyone could ask for. She was so kind and loving to everyone. Losing her so suddenly and unexpectedly was such a great shock. It still feels surreal to me, almost as if she was still here with us and if I went to Toronto I could still see her. My heart is heavy with sadness and I miss her dearly, but I’m sure she is up I’m heaven with Mom and Dad. Rest in peace, 언니.
My mom wanted to visit you last year so badly. She reluctantly had to cancel her trip due to the pandemic, but you were never far from her heart and thoughts. She will always be with you and watch over you now. I miss you dearly, Emo! I love you.
