elevated jh8L2 Obituary
elevated jh8L2 KENNY, Thomas Domnick – Toronto, Canada, (formerly of Keoltown, Mullingar, Co Westmeath and Crimlin, Castlebar, Co Mayo)
elevated jh8L2 After bravely facing an eight year battle with cancer, Tom passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the age of 70. He was the beloved husband to the late Laura; the loving and devoted father of Ena, Adrian, Nicholas, Celia, Trevor, Peter and Margot; brother of Mary, Nora, Anne, John, James, Rita and Patrick. Tom will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Esmé, Ronan, Henry and Autumn, and his partner Lauren, as well as his cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family near and far. Tom’s family will never forget his friends, neighbours, and colleagues, whose unflagging love and support carried him through his illness and the years since Laura’s passing. He will be remembered for being down to earth, for offering a helping hand to anyone in need, for his sense of humour and his love of storytelling. His belief in the importance of community was attested to by his volunteer work with the local hockey league and his involvement in the Irish community in Toronto and back at home in Ireland.
elevated jh8L2 The family wishes to thank his healthcare teams at Princess Margaret and Sunnybrook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s name to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre:

Deepest sympathy to the Kenny and Lauren.
Tom was a very special friend to the Irish community in Toronto especially Mayo and Westmeath Associations.
Rest in peace Tom.
Kenny you were a smart son of a gun. Great welder, fitter and draughtsman back in Ireland in the late 60’s and early 70’s with Borb Na Mona.
I followed you to Toronto and you sorted me out with a job in draughting. You showed me the ropes.
Kind, bighearted and when you met Laura you were a made man.
Funny, tough, great hands and creativity.
Will miss the few pints and the craic
I could go on and one.
Rest In Peace Kenny
You left a big vacant space.
Thank you very much.
He was certainly very proud of his country & heritage.
It was lovely spending time with you at the many events.
I wish you health & happiness & continued wonderful storytelling.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Ena, Adrian, Nicholas, Celia, Trevor, Peter and Margot; brother of Mary, Nora, Anne, John, James, Rita and Patrick and to all Tom’s extended family and friends. Our prayers are with you all at this very sad time.
“Go mbeidh na h-Aingeail sna Flaithís ag fanacht le Tomás” is an old Irish Blessing which translates to say “May the angels in Heaven be waiting for dearest Tom”.
Tom Kenny was no doubt snatched too soon from all of us but he leaves behind him many kind and enduring memories. Together with the late Laura, he and she now leave a virtuous mark on all who knew and luckily passed their way.

Dear Ena, Adrian, Nicholas, Celia, Trevor, Peter, and Margot my sincere sympathies to all of you at this very sad time, made all the more difficult during these strange times. We watched from a far the beautiful mass and the many tributes paid to Tom, leading on to the cemetery and the final end of his journey to be with Laura again. As he wished the sun shone as one of his many favorite songs played out “Someday we will meet again.”
I could see that all his wishes were cared for. He would be very proud of each and every one of you. We will always cherish and remember the many happy times we had together, not forgetting the sad times that our families have been through. We also extend our sympathies to Lauren at this difficult time, you are in our thoughts and prayers. As Tom would say, stay strong, take care and always be there for each other
Goodbye big brother, I will miss your many long chats on the phone now silent and gone forever but never forgotten, rest in peace.

Tom’s passing leaves a big hole in Toronto’s Irish community. A friendly face at the many events he supported where so many of us always appreciated his good humour and positivity. I can only imagine what a favourable impression of Ireland so many Canadians would have been left with from their dealings with Tom. A true gem from the Emerald Isle. Rest in Peace Tom. Sincere condolences to you all.
Thank you, Cormac.
He was indeed a character that made many smile.
He will be greatly missed.
He certainly left a favourable impression of Ireland and more on this Canadian.
Lauren
