elevated 7xHaj It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Timothy Roy David De Souza, who passed away on July 31, 2026, in Toronto, Ontario, at the age of 92.
Born on July 28, 1934, in Georgetown, British Guiana, David was the son of Timothy Gregory De Souza and Carmelita (née De Freitas). He lived a life marked by faith, integrity, resilience, and an unwavering devotion to his family. A proud Certified General Accountant (CGA), he enjoyed a distinguished career in accounting, where he dedicated many years of service to the Canada Revenue Agency before retiring at the age of 80. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, unwavering integrity, and strong work ethic, David earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike throughout his career.
David and his beloved wife, Kay (née Da Silva), shared 69 years of a loving and devoted marriage, together building a family that was the greatest source of pride and joy in his life. He is survived by his sons, David Wayne (Myriam), Grant, and Blaine; his cherished grandchildren, Kayla (Brandon), Briana (Mitchell), Vanessa (Matthew), Jordan, and Jackson; and his great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Milena, Gabriel, Emilia, Carmela, Simone, Sophina, and Tonino.
He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings Kay Francis, Winston (Anne), Carmelita (Desmond), Donna (Keith), and John (Marissa). He was predeceased by his siblings Compton and Jean, Theresa and Peter, Michael and Norma, Marie and Bernard, Lydia and Vibert, Malcolm (Patricia), Andrew (Debbie), and Alban (Margot), and by his stepfather, Ulric Alban. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
David will be remembered for his unwavering faith, quiet strength, integrity, and devotion to his family. His life was a testament to humility, perseverance, and selfless love. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

I’ve idolized my Uncle David my whole life. I was lucky enough to call him my godfather. He was so special. Every time I saw him or spoke with him, my heart skipped a beat with the joy he made me feel. I asked him to be my godfather again when I was confirmed at 25 and he was the Master of Ceremonies at my wedding. The world is not the same without him. I love you Uncle.

When I look back over these 41 years, I realize just how lucky I was to have you in my life. From the very first day, you welcomed me with that big smile and made me feel like I belonged. You gave me a wonderful example of the kind of man I hoped your son would be—and thankfully, I was right\.
You weren’t just my father-in-law. You were my neighbour, my family, someone I could count on, and such an important part of my everyday life.
I will miss your smile, your kindness, your generosity, your wisdom, and simply knowing you were there.
I love you, and I will miss you more than words can ever say. 💜💔
You were a dear uncle to me and a dear family member to my mom and dad, my brother, my family. You were always kind and welcoming to Dina and I. You always had a wise kind word and you were always supportive.

When I was in grade 3 the DeSouza family moved into my neighborhood and growing up I would spend a lot of time at their Bellamy Road house. Mr. and Mrs. DeSouza were always extremely friendly and welcoming. Mr. DeSouza always had that smile and really enjoyed a good laugh. Ironically I was fortunate enough to run into him on his 92nd birthday and we enjoyed a great conversation. I didn’t realize it at the time but that is a conversation I will now cherish. To Kay and the entire De Souza family,
We were so sorry to learn of Dave’s passing. We were his neighbours, and we had the good fortune of getting to know him and Kay in the early months of the pandemic, when the street was very quiet and a friendly face meant more than it ordinarily would.
Dave was almost always out front, puttering in the yard or making his way up and down the street, and he never once passed without stopping to ask how we were, how our daughter was doing, and whether we needed anything at all. She was little then. She is nine now, and she still knows him as the kind man from down the street who always said hello. That is the measure of the impression he made on a child who only ever saw him from the sidewalk.
He was also, quietly, very thoughtful and pensive in conversation. We always walked away from those front yard conversations feeling that you had been genuinely listened to, which is rarer than it should be. His son, Dave, is much like his father in this regard.
The obituary speaks of his quiet strength and his devotion, and we saw both of those things from across the front lawn. It is a rare thing to make people feel genuinely looked after simply by asking after them, and he did it every time.
Kay, we are thinking of you especially, and of your sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sixty-nine years is a remarkable life built together. Thank you for sharing him with the neighbourhood. We will miss seeing him out front. With deep sympathy, Mike, Dan and Ellie

Such sad news. David was such a gentleman.
We enjoyed meeting David & Kay in Barbados.
We use to catch the bus together to go to Mass.
When we found that we might have been caught up in the lock down at the beginning of the Covid pandemic, they were the first to offer their condominium to us. In fact we managed to get a repatriation flight back to the UK.
The world would be a better place with more David’s in it. RIP lovely gentle man.
