Mom’s will always be an inspiration to me.her understanding of the surrounding that she is placed or choose to be in is always or mostly on her terms.
I remember her from Whitehall Ave and red hills road corner some 60years ago .she ran the shop and Mr Lee managed the bar and betting shop.
She was friendly to me some time I was there helping out in the shop.after many years of not see me I came to look for her she remembered me as archie penu from school days I will miss you

Remembering Our Lovely Aunty,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you today. Aunty was a wonderful and welcoming woman. We are missing her terribly.
I got to know Aunt Un Choon well when she traveled back to Hong Kong from Jamaica in the late 1960s. I remember almost instantly we the boys in Hong Kong felt her motherly love and caring. She connected with us all the young teenage boys with her great sense of humor. She always had some interesting stories to tell about the old village. I always enjoy talking to her and being with her company. Even in the recent years in Canada my meeting with her always filled with laughters on the stories she told about the older generations. She will be missed. Rest in Peace.
Aunt Un Choon was my second Mom in Jamaica. I always felt lucky and blessed knowing that I was always welcome at her home. This meant a lot for a kid who had to immigrated to a distant land from family. Every time i need a change of “scenery ” i would end up at Aunty’s, she would always welcome me with warm, smiles and understanding. Only regret i have is not able to visit her the last three year due to the covid situation. Will miss her, especially her smiles. Rest in peace and say hi to my parents, you folks will have a lot to talk about.
Aunt Jean my dad eldest sister I will always remember her pleasant personality, loving ,caring and kindness to my parent’s I and my brother. My dad use to take us to visit aunt Jean every other Sunday had her delicious dinner, aunt was an excellent cook. I would call aunt Jean speak to her in Hakka you speak very good remember, ask her about Chinese recipe she would tell me how to season cook it. Aunt Jean Rest In Peace you are at a better place with the Lord.
It’s hard to Lose her. The world needs more like her. She could put everyone at ease, said the nice kind words and did the very thing she think you needed. She was happy to see me back in 60-62 only to find I headed straight to the kitchen hunting for leftover. Without being asked. she began to provide a bit more for her constantly hungry nephew. It becoming strange that I was there every weekday. Later she offered to take me on my guardian 62-64. She was my life-saver in those days and besides Oscar, was the last family I saw leaving Jamaica.
