elevated S1QP7 January 22, 1935 – July 3, 2026
Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of our mother, Velda Dorigo, who passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, at the age of 91.
Mom was born on January 22, 1935, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. She later made Ontario her home, spending most of her life in Woodbridge, where she and our father built a loving home and raised our family.
She was predeceased by our father, Vittorio, the love of her life.
She leaves behind her children, Renata (Sante), Paolo (Victoria) and Adriana and her cherished grandchildren, Giulia, Alberto, Alessia, Michael, Alexander and Ava each of whom she loved deeply and was immensely proud of.
Mom dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Operating room Nurse. She approached her work with compassion, skill, and quiet humility. Helping people wasn’t simply her profession—it was who she was.
If you knew our mother, you knew she was one of the strongest people you could ever meet. She was fiercely independent, determined, and resilient. She had a wonderfully dry sense of humor that often caught people off guard and reminded us not to take life too seriously.
Nothing made Mom happier than feeding the people she loved. Her kitchen was always open, and no one ever left her table hungry. She also found great joy in her garden, taking pride in every flower and every season. Above all, she loved helping others. Whether family, friends, or neighbors, she was always the first to offer her time, her advice, or a helping hand.
While our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the long life she lived, the values she instilled in us, and the countless memories we were fortunate enough to share. We take comfort in knowing she is reunited with our father once again.
A private family service was held at Queen of Heaven Funeral Home and Cemetery.
Mom, thank you for everything you gave us. Your strength became our strength. Your love became the foundation of our family. You will be with us always.
Foreverloved. Forever missed.

Renata (Sante), Paolo(Victoria), Adriana and all cherished grandchildren. Our deepest condolences to you and your family. Zia Velda was a beautiful soul and I always looked up to her. She was my influence to be a Registered Nurse and one that worked in the Operating Room. The family times and conversations will forever be held close to my heart. Now she is reunited with Zio Vittorio and my parents ( Lino and Beppina Dorigo) Lots of hugs and kisses Merilice ( Dorigo) and Frank Finateri ❤️❤️
It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to Velda. I had the privilege of caring for her for seven months, but the time we shared created memories that I will always treasure.
I will always remember hearing her call out, “Crystal,” whenever she needed something. I was always fascinated by her wonderful sense of humor. She had a way of making ordinary moments special with her wit, and our little conversations always brought a smile to my face.
I will fondly remember the many afternoons we spent watching baseball and hockey, enjoying Andrea Bocelli concerts, and watching Italian cooking shows together.
It was truly a privilege to know you, Velda. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. I learned so much from you, and I will always cherish the memories we shared.
Rest peacefully, Velda. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
