elevated ZaItO Obituary
Sadly the family announces that our dear mother Verna passed away with family by her side at the age of 98. Born in Tweed, Ontario on August 2, 1925, to Joseph and Emma Fobert (nee Cournoyea)
elevated ZaItO Verna is predeceased by Arthur, her beloved husband of 51 years (1999), her much loved son Glenn (2022), and her siblings Dorene O’Coin (2010), Harold Fobert (2016) and John Fobert (2020).
elevated ZaItO Verna is survived by sister Helen (Joe) and her daughters Lynda and Nancy (Murray). She was proud grandmother to Dave (Tanya), Conor (Megan) and Lachlan and adored great grandmother to Leah and Maya.
elevated ZaItO Verna’s life was actively filled with love for her family, her many friends, and for those whose lives she touched. She always loved dancing, sports (tennis and curling), and enjoyed summers swimming at the dam in Tweed and her cottage. She was passionately involved in politics and cherished fond memories of performing in local theatre when young.
elevated ZaItO Her life experiences and activities created smiles, laughter, drama and inspiration for her family and those she met and knew. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff of Margaret Bahen Hospice and Stouffville Creek Retirement Residence for all their care and unfailing kindness.

I have fond memories of happy times with Verna at her home or with other friends. She had a gift for making people feel welcome in the group.
Remembering Aunt Verna’s radiant smile, generous spirit and intelligence, I cherish her life and especially times spent with her in my youth and after having my own children. May she rest in peace
Thanks Lorraine! She loved to remember stories of when we were all kids – swimming at Tweed and Uncle Eldon’s
Cottages together
I was saddened and want to express my belated but most sincere Condolences to Verna Edwards daughters, Lynda and Nancy. I only learned very recently from Phil Meagher of Verna’s death in July and of Glenns’s death in 2022. I go back to your family’s early days at St Edwards school and church. I last saw Verna at NYGH back when I and husband John were taking Communion from St Gabriel’s Parish to the hospital. Verna was on my list..and in her usual cheerful and sociable manner, laughingly related she had broken her arm when a garbage bin had fallen on it. It was a joy to see her again after a long while. I said a little prayer for you and for each of your deceased family. I remember them well.
Thank you so much Vivian! I remember you well too-you and my mom had lots of adventures at St Edwards. We appreciate your prayers and hope you are well
Lynda and Nancy
