elevated AIKwM Victoria Shuk Ying Lau Tin passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026. Born on December 17, 1944, in Macau, she was the beloved daughter of the late Rosalina Gomes and Victor Lau.
elevated AIKwM She is survived by her loving husband, Ching-Lung (Gerald); her children Diane (Jordan), Noel, and Dora (Michael); and her treasured grandchildren Sean, Ian, Benjamin, Phillip and Kara. She is also fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, and godchildren.
elevated AIKwM Victoria is reunited with her parents, her brother Edward, and her sister Cynthia.
elevated AIKwM Known affectionately as Vicky, she was a gentle and caring presence whose life was marked by love, compassion, and generosity. Shortly after her birth, her family moved back to Hong Kong with the ending of World War II. Vicky attended the Sacred Heart Canossian College from kindergarten through Form 7, where her lifelong friendships were built and her faith journey took root. After graduating from the University of Hong Kong, Vicky joined the Social Work Department of the Hong Kong Government, where she met Ching-Lung, her soul-mate. While raising her three young children, she returned to her alma mater as a social work field-instructor. She was known for putting her students first, offering steady encouragement and genuine belief in their potential. In 1989, Vicky and Ching-Lung uprooted their family and immigrated to Canada. In Toronto where they called their new home, her passion for community services continued and Vicky became a cultural interpreter working in the downtown courts. She took immense pride in her work and the friendships she formed with fellow interpreters from around the world. Together with Ching-Lung, Vicky volunteered at her church after retirement. She co-led the care group, Martha group and Vicky was a cantor of the church choir.
elevated AIKwM Vicky’s eyes sparkled when speaking with her friends and family, whether over the phone, a video chat, or during coffee or dim-sum gatherings. She listened with compassion, sharing both laughter and tears, and was known for remembering birthdays and important milestones across generations. She will be deeply missed.

Victoria was my high school classmate in Hong Kong. She was always a sweet and very thoughtful person. We had much fun during our class reunions throughout the years.
Thank for your kind message Dora.
Diane and Family
Dear Vicky,
May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you.
Vicki, with her beautiful voice loves singing in the church choir. She enjoyed our activities in the Canossian choir. I shall miss her dearly!
I love to name her Mrs Tin who was my instructor during my fieldwork placement at St. James’ Settlement in HK. “Janice, you look like a blooming flower…” has not only raised me up as a social worker but also led me a positive life.
It’s my great honor to become your granddaughter to whom you always shared your dishes, cherry tomatoes & laughters in Toronto. Though we are apart since my return to HK in 1993, we are not apart. You always live respectfully in my heart.
Thank you Connie and Stephen.

Vicky is not only an old friend and colleague of SWD, but also my eldest daughter Yvonne’s godmother. We always remember her smile and very positive attitude, as well as her readiness to share sadness and joy with all in the group. Although the Tin family has migrated to Toronto in the late 80s, we have maintained dialogue throughout these years and we treasure the moments that we spent together, no matter in HK or Toronto, with updates on our life and that of our children and even grandchildren.
It is really sad to hear the news that Vicky has passed away. Our deepest condolences to Tin and the whole family. May she rest in peace, returning to the eternal kingdom of God.
We miss you!

Vicky has always been a loving and caring cousin, we will miss her deeply 💔, Dear Vicky, this quote comes into my mind : Time may pass and fade away, but my memory of you will always stay. May you rest in peace in God’s eternal kingdom 🙏

I have known Victoria since our university days. I was impressed by her devotion and active participation in the Catholic Society and the Legion of Mary. In the late 1980’s, both her family and mine immigrated to Toronto. Providence even put us together to serve Sacred Heart Chinese Catholic Mission in the last eleven years. Her strong faith and enthusiastic service continued to inspire me. She lived out the spirit of her favorite prayer, the Suscipe, accepting God’s will in all things. While we miss Victoria, the great example of her love for God and neighbors will live on in our memory. As a faithful and beloved daughter of Our Blessed Mother, Victoria is enjoying heavenly bliss in the embrace of Our Heavenly Father!
