elevated 1zRsz It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Vincenzo Di Dio, a devoted husband, loving father, proud nonno, cherished brother, uncle, and friend.

elevated 1zRsz Vincenzo was born on November 30, 1941 in Montescaglioso, Matera, Italy, where he grew up alongside his siblings, Anna, Caterina, Giovanni, and Giuseppe. From childhood into his young adult years, he worked on the family farm. Although they did not have much, those years taught Vincenzo the values of hard work, perseverance, gratitude, and family.

elevated 1zRsz In 1966, Vincenzo married the love of his life, Maria Maddalena. Together, they came to Canada in search of a better life and built a beautiful family rooted in love, sacrifice, and dedication.

elevated 1zRsz He was the proud father of Rocco (Tanina), Francesco (Heather), and Giovanni (Sandra), and a loving nonno to Ella, Francesco, Vincenzo, and Mia-Maria. He especially loved creating math questions for his grandchildren, turning simple moments together into lasting memories.

elevated 1zRsz As a Tool and Die Maker, Vincenzo worked at Payne Metal, de Havilland, Electro Diecraft, and later Dayton Progress, where he retired with over twenty years of service. He approached every job with pride and commitment, always working hard for his family. Outside of work, Vincenzo found great joy in his garden, carefully tending to his fruit trees and vegetable garden.  He also made his own wine every year and took pride in sharing the fruits of his labour.  Friends and family often saw Vincenzo arriving with a box of his favourite Boston Cream donuts, a simple gesture that always brought smiles and a memory many of us will cherish forever. Vincenzo cheered passionately for Inter Milan and the Toronto Maple Leafs – his “enthusiasm” for each game could always be heard throughout the entire house.

elevated 1zRsz Vincenzo was predeceased by his beloved wife, Maria Maddalena in 2003. Though he will be missed beyond words, there is comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his one true love.  He will be deeply missed by his sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, siblings, many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends in both Canada and Italy.

elevated 1zRsz È con immensa tristezza che annunciamo la scomparsa di Vincenzo Di Dio, amato marito, padre affettuoso, orgoglioso nonno, caro fratello, zio e amico.

elevated 1zRsz Vincenzo nacque il 30 novembre 1941 a Montescaglioso, in provincia di Matera, dove crebbe insieme ai suoi fratelli e sorelle, Anna, Caterina, Giovanni e Giuseppe. Fin da bambino, e poi durante la sua giovinezza, lavorò nei campi con la sua famiglia. Pur avendo poco, quegli anni gli insegnarono i valori del duro lavoro, della perseveranza, della gratitudine e dell’importanza della famiglia, principi che lo hanno accompagnato per tutta la vita.

elevated 1zRsz Nel 1966 sposò l’amore della sua vita, Maria Maddalena. Insieme intrapresero il coraggioso viaggio verso il Canada, alla ricerca di un futuro migliore, dove costruirono una splendida famiglia fondata sull’amore, sul sacrificio e sulla dedizione.

elevated 1zRsz Fu un padre orgoglioso e amorevole per Rocco (Tanina), Francesco (Heather) e Giovanni (Sandra), e un nonno affettuoso per Ella, Francesco, Vincenzo e Mia-Maria. Amava trascorrere il tempo con i suoi nipoti, inventando per loro piccoli problemi di matematica, trasformando anche i momenti più semplici in ricordi preziosi che porteranno sempre nel cuore.

elevated 1zRsz Di professione attrezzista meccanico (Tool and Die Maker), Vincenzo lavorò presso Payne Metal, de Havilland, Electro Diecraft e infine Dayton Progress, dove concluse la sua carriera dopo oltre vent’anni di servizio. Affrontò ogni lavoro con orgoglio, dedizione e un forte senso del dovere, lavorando instancabilmente per garantire il meglio alla sua famiglia. Al di fuori del lavoro trovava grande gioia nel suo giardino, curando con amore i suoi alberi da frutto e l’orto. Ogni anno produceva il suo vino con passione e provava grande soddisfazione nel condividerlo con familiari e amici. Amici e parenti lo ricordano arrivare spesso con una scatola dei suoi amati Boston Cream, un gesto semplice che riusciva sempre a strappare un sorriso e che rimarrà per sempre un caro ricordo nei nostri cuori. Vincenzo era inoltre un tifoso appassionato dell’Inter e dei Toronto Maple Leafs: durante le partite, il suo entusiasmo era impossibile da non sentire e risuonava in tutta la casa.

elevated 1zRsz Vincenzo è stato preceduto nella morte dalla sua amata moglie, Maria Maddalena, nel 2003. Anche se la sua mancanza sarà impossibile da colmare, ci consola sapere che ora si è ricongiunto al suo unico grande amore.  Lascia nel dolore i suoi figli, le nuore, gli amati nipoti, i fratelli e le sorelle, i numerosi nipoti, parenti e amici, sia in Canada che in Italia, che conserveranno per sempre il ricordo del suo affetto, della sua generosità e del suo esempio.

elevated 1zRsz Vincenzo sarà ricordato come un uomo umile, instancabile e profondamente devoto alla sua famiglia. Il suo amore, i suoi insegnamenti e i valori che ha trasmesso continueranno a vivere attraverso la famiglia che ha costruito con tanto sacrificio.
