elevated t0tYi With heartfelt sadness, our family announces the peaceful passing of Virginia Bertoia on July 18, 2021 at the age of 96. Born in Azzano Decimo, Italy to the late Francesco and Maria Somera. She will now be reunited with the love of her life, husband Umberto as well as her beloved daughter, grandson, parents and siblings. Virginia was beloved mother to Steglio (Marisa) and the late Marisa. Dear nonna of Marco (Jennifer), Andrea (Michael), and the late Daniel. Adoring bisnonna of Christian, Claudia, Lucas, and Daniel. Virginia was the last surviving member of her birth family, pre-deceased by siblings Rodolfo, Francesco, Fioravante, Ruggiero, Regina, Luigia, and Caterina.
elevated t0tYi Virginia was a woman of grace, dignity, and strength. Her home enriched the lives of all the family and friends who entered, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
elevated t0tYi Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private mass will be held on July 21, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home in the Chapel of St. Joseph. An entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. To stream the mass, click the link below. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Virginia can be made to the Skate With Daniel Fund. Donations can be mailed to 148 Brooke Street, Thornhill, Ontario, L4J 1Y9. Cheques to be made out to Skate With Daniel or etransfer to stan.bertoia@gmail.com. Tax receipts will be provided.

Dear Steglio, Marisa & family, your beautiful words in the obituary said it all Your mother was my Godmother and a woman I respected and admired like my own. She always made me feel so welcome and loved when I visited. She endured so much but was strong and continued to smile and see the goodness in people. RIP Santola

It was a privilege knowing mama Virginia. She is like a mother to me. Very caring. We used to eat together almost every day. She always have story to tell , and it is so funny that even I don’t speak and understand what she is telling me but we clicked. It feels so good to be trusted by her that she call me anytime of the day and if she is not sure about her medication or confused about something. I remember one incident that the nurse has to call me (Josefina) so she will take her pill or eat her meal. Thats how close we are. I have so much to say about her and our memories together.
Mama Virgie you will be missed by us.
