elevated kTI5c It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Allen on his 94th birthday. Born in Toronto on Sept 29th 1930, he is predeceased by his wife of 71 years Kay Allen (Nee LeBarr), his parents Bill & Madeline Allen, his sister Gladys, his grandson Darrin and many other close family and friends.
elevated kTI5c A family man who was devoted to his wife Katherine, 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 17 great Grandchildren plus two on the way. Often referred to as Gramps, he was the constant Gentleman, respected and loved by so many.
elevated kTI5c In his late teens Dad met the love of his life Katherine through the CYO, his Catholic faith was important to him. Mom & Dad married in Sept of 1953 and originally lived in Leaside, then Peterborough, raised their family mostly in Don Mills, a short stint in Vancouver before moving back to the GTA, to Markham and eventually Burlington/Oakville.
elevated kTI5c He will be remembered by many including his 5 children Mary K (Steve P), Anne-Marie (Ed), Billy (Leah), Colleen, Cherilyn (Steve C).
elevated kTI5c Bill had a an esteemed business career that ranged from his early days traveling with and as Mr. Peanut with Planters, to a rewarding career in Marketing & Sales with Nestle Canada that spanned almost 40 years.
elevated kTI5c Dad left an amazing legacy and the world is a better place because of him. He said his good byes and had special personal conversations with each of his grandchildren and many of his great grandchildren prior to his passing, once again proving his unselfish manner in how he lived. Now its time to go spend time with Mom (Grandma/Great Grandma) and his many friends who have gone before him.
elevated kTI5c One of his favorite saying was “Our friends are our family, our family are our friends”.
elevated kTI5c Our Family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Rana who cared so dearly for both Mom & Dad in their senior years. Also the staff at the Williamsburg and Amica Bronte Harbour and especially the care and attention he received from the doctors and nurses at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital.
elevated kTI5c Dad, you set a great example for all and any that met you. We love you and will always be grateful for how good you were to all of us.

Mr Allen was a pillar of our community at Annunciation Church in Don Mills. Very good friends to my Parents for many years. Bill Allen ( Mr Allen to me) was such a nice , gentle man to all who met him. His home was open to all family and friends. He was the epitome of what you want a father to be. Kind , caring , loving and supportive. You left behind great lessons Mr Allen as each one of your children have inherited your kindness and genuine caring. Rest in Peace Mr Allen.

To the Allen Family. Mr Allen and my Dad, Bill Poole, were lifelong friends. I remember the Nestle years. He used to bring us Nestle Quick chocolate powder! He and your Mom were such wonderful people and are both missed. My condolences to all of your family.

My most heartfelt condolences on the passing of your father. I have so many fond memories of him tapping on my office window, decked out in either his Blue Jay or Toronto Maple Leaf outfits. Both he and I led the cheer the last year the Leafs made the playoffs (only to lose in the first round). He was truly a gentleman, and the world is indeed, a better place because of him.
Karen, our Dad was so fond of you and yes he loved the Blue Jays & the Leafs! You were always kind and respectful to him. Thank you.

I cannot fully express my sadness at the loss of such a dear friend.

When I think of Mr. Allen.. Bill (and Katherine) and the decades that my parents and family spent with the Allen family. I am filled with happy and fun memories and I am so grateful for having had Bill, Kay and the Allen clan in my early life.
– So many parties and dinners, weddings and New Years Eve celebrations.
– Euchre and don’t forget Hockey Night in Canada!
– Cottages & backyard fun – Lawn Darts! Do I need to say more!
– Boxing Day Allen/Feeney get togethers.
– The Nestle box at Blue Jays games. I was lucky enough to be included with the parents on occasion even as a 20 something.
– I was also so honoured to have Bill read one of the passages at my wedding years later.
Though we haven’t seen each other as often over the years as we once did the lifelong friendships and bonds that our parents had and instilled in us all is strong.
Mom always kept us up to date and it was clear that Bill remained a great man and friend who deeply loved his family and friends.
We are all better for having had Bill in our lives. May his light always shine upon those who knew and loved him.
I bet it was one heck of birthday party in heaven this past Sunday!

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to you and your families. It’s always very sad when a loved one leaves us, but it seems that Mr Allen lived a very complete life and left many wonderful memories. He was a good, honourable man and well respected by everyone.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Allen. Our deepest condolences go out to the entire Allen family.
