elevated eC9Wq It is with great sadness that the family of Alan Kearsey announces his passing. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Rose Kearsey, daughters, Katherine, Kimberley (Manuel), Suzanne (Andrea), sons, Jay (Sandra), Jason (Liliana), grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Isaac, Sebastian and Liam, and numerous other family members and friends.
elevated eC9Wq Alan was the most even-keeled, gentle and patient man many had ever met. Alongside that gentleness were a superb sense of humour and a wonderfully contagious laugh.
elevated eC9Wq He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable home for his family in the city and a beautiful retreat up north. Alan had an incredible work ethic, retirement was not something he wanted. He thoroughly enjoyed working alongside his colleagues at CreateTO, Tedco, TPLC on Toronto’s Waterfront Port Lands, and SunLife in his earlier years; he established long-term friendships with many of the people he met through his work. Alan relished his time up north at the cottage. He proudly worked on projects throughout the day and joyfully fell into the cool quarry water in the afternoon. He cherished his time golfing by the cottage at the Western Trent Golf Course.
We are heartbroken that he was taken too early from the things he loved to do and the ones he loved so much. We will deeply miss the best husband, best dad and best papa anyone could ever have.
Al was all of the above and much more !!!
He was my best friend for 70+ years and I will miss him tremendously.
I am shocked to hear of Alan’s passing.
I had the privilege of knowing Alan whilst he worked at the Port Lands.
Such a nice, kind hearted man, gone too soon.

My deepest condolences to Rose and Alan’s extended family. I first met Alan in 2005 when I joined Tedco as VP and we continued to work together for the next 13 years. Alan was a trusted collegue and we became friends in our time developing the portlands and the greater waterfront.
I met him when I was five and he was six. He had the qualities listed above from the beginning. I was so fortunate to have had him as a friend into our late 70s.
Al was a wonderful friend. He was my brother Jim Martins’s best friend since kindergarten. I have so many happy memories of Alan growing up in west Toronto. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

My dad, Jim, and Al were part of a cool pack of guys that grew up around Lansdowne and Bloor in the 50s and 60s. My parents always admired Al and Rose and spoke so highly of them their whole lives. For many years, Al was my dad’s best friend and when I was born, he was my dad’s first choice to be my GodFather. I wish I had gotten to know him better, but I still have lots of happy memories.
I will remember my Uncle Al and keep him in my heart. The epic camping trips to Algonquin Park and canoeing with him my dad and brother. And the horseshoe tournaments with all the uncles good times. Big hugs to all the Kearseys he will be in our hearts forever.
Claire & I have been filled with profound sadness all week as we all absorb the loss of such a dear friend. Knowing the strength of Rose’s faith and the closeness of her terrific children and grand children, we at least know that the family will help each other through this difficult time. We both have such special memories, be they on a golf course, a tennis court, the condo in Sebring, the cottage in Kirkfield , the Blue Jay radio broadcast… and dozens more.
We will love you forever.

I fear ….The world will never see another man like him … so genuine , so carrying , so glad we had the wonderful time we did with him .

Al was a wonderful friend and cottage neighbour. He was so generous with his time, knowledge and love for the O’Brien family. Any time I needed help I always knew Al would be there. His laugh and jokes made life a blast. A life taken too soon. We’ll miss you Al. Love to the family.
Not enough words describe how I felt about AL, he was very respectful friend, he was a very good friend to my late Step-farther Al Morgan and a very good friend to our family for over 50 years. Rose, Al will be missed, but he will ALWAYS be very FONDLY remembered. RIP Al you are a class act.

I’M SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE PASSING AWAY OF AL. I was one of the pack of cool guys that Lori Martin mentioned. I’m glad I got to see him in a couple of breakfast meetings that the old pack had in the last couple of years.
The obituary really captured the spirit of the man I knew only through St. John’s Parish in Kirkfield, Ontario but whom I felt I had known all my life. He was a totally genuine presence; you could connect with him instantly. No wonder he built a life with such a great soul as you, Rose. Sincere sympathies to all the family for your loss.

Al was a guy that everyone would want as a dear friend. He lived life fully, positively, joyfully and with devotion. He was also a tennis player, golfer, card player, companion, leader, and listener. Rose and family was his foundation. We loved Al and will miss him dearly.

I have wonderful memories working and socializing with Al at CF in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
We sometimes played tennis before work at a public court on Bayview Ave. Al’s happy, kind and soft demeanour with a booming laugh will be missed.
