elevated 2RnVy Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss we announce the peaceful passing of Bertha “Betty” Lima on February 9, 2026, at the age of 91 at Amica Unionville, holding the hand of her loving daughter Suzanne and the presence of her loving Caregiver Lea.

elevated 2RnVy She is now reunited with her beloved husband Francis and her parents and siblings Olive, Percy, Angelica, Alice and Olinda. Loving mother of Suzanne. Dear sister of Lucy, who was there for her till the end.  Betty will be sadly missed and held dear in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends

elevated 2RnVy Betty was born in Kampala, Uganda where she met her husband of 69 years and had her daughter Suzanne. She was an avid sports person playing field hockey, badminton, tennis and squash, winning many trophies in badminton. In later life she made sure to work out regularly.

elevated 2RnVy In Uganda she worked for the greater part of her career for The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as the Administrative Assistant to the UN diplomats. In 1972 as a result of a political crisis, she and her family were deemed stateless and thanks to the generosity of the Canadian Government moved with her family to Montreal where she was able to get a job transfer to the UN Civil Aviation Organization. Subsequently she and her family moved to Toronto to be close to family.

elevated 2RnVy While she and her husband faced many challenges starting life all over again in Toronto she persevered and together with her husband was able to provide their daughter with a stable home and a great education. In later life when her mobility was restricted, her favorite pastime was investing in the stock market and listening to CNBC for stock tips. She was also politically aware and liked to watch MSNBC, CNN and BBC World,

elevated 2RnVy She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten. Your thoughts and kindness are truly appreciated during this time of sorrow.
