elevated iNwyF Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 3, 2023 at the age of 76. Beloved wife of the late Enrico (2017). Devoted and much loved mother of Nello (Rosalie, nee Maltese) and Francesco (Connie, nee Calvelli). Very proud and loving nonna of Enrico, Carlo, Luca, Marco and Emily. Dear sister of the late Battista (Maria) from Bari, Italy, Anna (the late Giacomo) Gentile, Gilberto (Giulia), Ermelinda (the late Leonardo) Tucci, and Giorgio (Nina).Emilia will be fondly missed by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Emilia had a very special place in her heart for her extended family, Carlo (Connie) Maltese and the late Frank (Helen) Calvelli and their children. Family gatherings will never be the same.
elevated iNwyF Predeceased by her parents Graziano and Teresina Parrotta, her brother Battista Spina and the love of her life, her husband, Enrico Rescigno.
elevated iNwyF Emilia was born in Pietrapaola, Cosenza, Calabria Italy on December 12, 1946. In search of a better life, she moved to Canada with her family in 1964, settling in Toronto, Ontario. Here, she married Enrico in 1971 and together they planted their roots.
elevated iNwyF She will be remembered for her delicious and very plentiful meals, her culinary skills, and her love of family. She always loved to spend time at the table, where time didn’t matter. She was especially proud of all of her grandchildren, continuing to nurture them even at her weakest state. Family was always first.
elevated iNwyF Many thanks to Dr. Rostas and Dr. Sagman for their compassion and care. A special thank you to Dr. Maida and the exceptional staff and volunteers at Hospice Vaughan. The family appreciates all those who visited and cared for our mother. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

My heart goes out to all especially the grandchildren who she loved immensely . They will miss her.
May the angels in heaven bring comfort to your loving family . Emilia is never really gone but lives in your hearts .. a great soul never dies. She was a gracious and kind lady to everyone who knew her. I shall always cherish the memories.

Rest in peace cara Emilia.
Beautiful words, Helen. Her memory will always be alive!
Dear Nello & Rosalie and Francesco & Connie and families,
I’m so sorry for the loss of your dear mother. I’ll remember her as a kind and generous Zia. Her heart was open as was her home for homemade meals shared with family. She was so kind to help bake cookies for our daughter’s baptism. I’ll treasure Zia Emilia’s recipes and tell the story of a wonderful woman. We’ll all miss her, but will remember her fondly. May she rest peacefully now in God’s embrace.
Love, Olivia & Franco Gentile & the girls
Thank you, Olivia, Frank and girls. She loved having her nieces and nephews over for dinner. It always warmed her heart. Her thumbprint cookies and melting moments were so delicious and perfectly formed. These are the things that will warm our hearts when we think of her.❤️
Dearest Francesco and family,
Our deepest condolences to you and all your family on the passing of your dear mother Emilia. May she rest in eternal peace.
Thank you for teaching me how to make capicola, I’ll never forget our time together. Rest in eternal peace.
