Devoted and much loved mother of Nello (Rosalie, nee Maltese) and Francesco (Connie, nee Calvelli). Very proud and loving nonna of Enrico, Carlo, Luca, Marco and Emily.  Dear sister of the late Battista (Maria) from Bari, Italy, Anna (the late Giacomo) Gentile, Gilberto (Giulia), Ermelinda (the late Leonardo) Tucci,  and Giorgio (Nina).Emilia will be fondly missed by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.  Emilia had a very special place in her heart for her extended family, Carlo (Connie) Maltese and the late Frank (Helen) Calvelli and their children.   Family gatherings will never be the same.

elevated 1V1VE Predeceased by her parents Graziano and Teresina Parrotta, her brother Battista Spina and the love of her life, her husband, Enrico Rescigno.

elevated 1V1VE Emilia was born in Pietrapaola, Cosenza, Calabria Italy on December 12, 1946.  In search of a better life, she moved to Canada with her family in 1964, settling in Toronto, Ontario.  Here, she married Enrico in 1971 and together they planted their roots.

elevated 1V1VE She will be remembered for her delicious and very plentiful meals, her culinary skills, and her love of family.  She always loved to spend time at the table, where time didn’t matter.  She was especially proud of all of her grandchildren, continuing to nurture them even at her weakest state.  Family was always first.

elevated 1V1VE Many thanks to Dr. Rostas and Dr. Sagman for their compassion and care.  A special thank you to Dr. Maida and the exceptional staff and volunteers at Hospice Vaughan. The family appreciates all those who visited and cared for our mother.  Your kindness will never be forgotten.
