John Shurlock Munian passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the age of 77.
elevated mr60X He was born at 10 Dowding St, Kitty, Georgetown, Guyana, on April 23, 1947, to Luchmin Hilda Munian and Madray Muthoo James Munian.
elevated mr60X John was an extraordinary man who left a profound and lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His life was a testament to love, kindness, and strength.
elevated mr60X He is survived by his beloved wife, Latchmin “Geeta”, and his children: John Roland, Ronald Richard, Joshua Cecil, and Randy James (predeceased); his daughters, Anansa Aleta, Samantha Maria, Alisha Felicia, and Valerie Hilda; daughters-in-laws Jocelyn and Ashley; and son-in-law Walter.
elevated mr60X John was a cherished grandfather to Jessica, Shania, Rolena, Navindra, Tyrone, Evander Tyrese, Dylan, Sayha, Ralex, Rydel, Sheneice, Canon, Alyssa, Logan, Ariana, Marissa, Kyle, Kendall, Kalvin, Sophie, and Sebastian. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Piper, Deacon, Jaxson, Zane, Gunnar, Niya, Da’khaii Amari, Arielle, Tyrell.
elevated mr60X He is also survived by his siblings: Lena (predeceased), Hermese (predeceased), Moses (predeceased), Roland (predeceased), Michael (predeceased), Herma, Cinthya, Lona (predeceased), and James, along with countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
elevated mr60X On January 19, 1969, he immigrated to Canada to study and secure his permanent residency. Throughout his life, he held various positions, was self-employed, and worked in multiple industries, earning the reputation of being a “Jack of all trades, master of none.” His last role was at Protek Bodies as a fiberglass maker, where he worked until retiring at the age of 70.
elevated mr60X John will be remembered for his vibrant sense of humor, his love for dancing—especially with his wife, Geeta—and his ability to make everyone around him feel welcome. He was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back and expect nothing in return, always acting out of the goodness of his heart.
elevated mr60X John deeply loved his family, including his wife, children, son-in-laws, daughters-in-laws, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His impeccable style, love for cooking, and dedication to his family made him the heart and soul of every family gathering. No celebration was complete without his delicious dishes, lovingly prepared to bring joy to everyone.

It is with immense sorrow and profound wistfulness that I extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Uncle John Munian. While words seem inherently inadequate to encapsulate the magnitude of our collective grief, I hope this message conveys a fraction of the solace I wish to impart.
Uncle John, with his unrivaled penchant for both preposterous antics and sage wisdom, was a paragon of the fine balance between levity and gravity. Who could forget his proclivity for the most absurdly elaborate pranks, often resulting in a room full of belly laughs and bewildered faces? His ability to transmute the mundane into the mirthful was nothing short of an art form. Yet, beneath that jocular façade, lay a reservoir of profound insight and altruism that has indelibly marked our lives.
His iridescent presence and magnanimous spirit remain etched in our hearts. I’m convinced that somewhere in the great beyond, Uncle John is orchestrating a celestial comedy show, to the absolute bemusement of fellow ethereal beings.
In these moments of contemplation, let us cherish the quixotic escapades, the uproarious laughter, and the singular wit that defined Uncle John’s extraordinary existence. His legacy, encapsulated in the intertwining of complex emotions and boundless humor, will persist ad infinitum.
With my deepest sympathy and a touch of Uncle John’s trademark humor, my condolences goes out to his entire family and I pray that god give this family the strength to cope with this loss.
