Obituary

elevated kYuyH It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Li Kit Sang, Joseph, who died peacefully on April 28, 2023, at age 90.  He was predeceased by his loving wife Sum Mee Wan, Teresa and is greatly missed by his daughters Li Man Yee, Anna (Leo Tse), Li Wai Yee, Brenda (Chris Hanson), Li Tak Yee, Frances (Larry Crosby), and grandchildren James Hanson and Nicholas Hanson.

elevated kYuyH Joseph was born in Canton, China in 1932 and fled the violence of World War II and its aftermath in two waves of refugee migration, that included a scary but brief separation from his family at age of about 8.  His early years and schooling were in Canton.  He immigrated to Hong Kong (by way of Macau), married, and joined the Catholic Church.  Joseph served on the Hong Kong police department as a sergeant, trainer at its academy, and a key member of the department’s tennis team before retiring at 45.  His next career was in the import/export business when he traveled the world extensively.  Before leaving Hong Kong, Joseph was a volunteer at the Rosary Catholic Church and was the oldest member of its choir.

elevated kYuyH After immigrating to Toronto and becoming a Canadian citizen in 1997, he maintained his love of photography, cars, televised sports, and travel.  He is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, with an open and generous soul, practical mindset, and endearing smile.
