Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Loredana Matar, a woman whose laugh could fill a house and whose smile could light up a neighbourhood. She was always full of life, endlessly creative, and never without a joke tucked into her bra.
Loredana leaves behind her husband of 44 years, Michel, who was her partner in love and laughter. She is cherished by her daughters, Marilu, mother to her three epic grandchildren—Pyrs, Alayna, and Jace—and Monique, along with son-in-law Brandon, who blessed her with her grandson Chayce and a precious baby girl on the way. Loredana’s grandchildren were her world and her favourite excuse to buy Boboas, sprinkles, and entirely too many toys.
Loredana’s legacy is one of warmth, creativity, humour, and heart. She was a master of many things: crafting one-of-a-kind masterpieces, cooking meals that made you forget your problems, and baking treats that mysteriously disappeared before they ever had time to cool. But her greatest passion was being a Nonna—a role she filled with pride, enthusiasm, and always too much spoiling.
Though she may no longer be crafting at the dining room table or telling jokes that made us blush, her love continues to shine through the countless memories she created. In true Loredana style, she’d want us to honour her legacy by smiling together, sharing some laughs, and getting the heck out of her kitchen.
Rest peacefully Mom, you will forever be missed. Snuggle with Nonna, have some fun, and cause a little mischief. Your light will forever glow in the hearts of all who knew you.
Until we meet again, our beautiful, divine angel. Infinite hugs and kisses.
In lieu of flowers, if so desired, memorable donations can be made in Loredana’s name to Margaret Bahen Hospice, who provided mom with amazing care and support.

Dear Marilyn and family, Deepest condolences on the passing of dear Loredana. On the few occasions that we met, I felt her warmth, love and joy of life. My prayers are with you all as Loredana takes her first steps on her journey in the next world of God.
Dear beautiful and loving family Always cherish your wonderful memories …keep them embedded in your beautiful hearts forever 🙏🙏🙏🙏Mario Libby and Nevio
Dear Michel, Marilu, Monique, and Grandchildren:
I was very saddened to hear of Laura’s passing.
Even though life took us in different directions and we didn’t see each other often, the times we did, they were filled with laughter like no time had passed at all. I will miss her.
I am so sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace. 🙏🙏🙏
Our deepest condolences to your family. Losing someone so special is never easy, and our hearts ache with you. May you find encouragement in the cherished memories, the laughter shared, and the love she poured into each of you. Laura will forever remain in your hearts. May God give you strength during this difficult time.
We love you !
We are so sorry to hear of Loredana’s passing. We first came to know her about 25 years ago, as that lovely, bubbly and oh so friendly cashier in Richmond Hill. Only to discover several years later that she was our neighbour! Every interaction with her would leave us with a smile on our faces and joy in your hearts! She was truly a lovely woman inside and out! Our most heartfelt condolences to you Michel and the entire family. She will be remembered fondly, always.
My heartfelt condolences on your loss. I’m keeping your family in my prayers and wishing you strength and comfort.

We are so sad for all of you. Laura was one of a kind and could make anyone laugh. She will be missed.
Dear Moni, I am so saddened to hear of your family’s loss. My thoughts are with you.
Moni, I am so incredibly sorry for yours and your families loss. My heart truly breaks for you all!! Even though I only had the chance to meet your mom a few times, those moments left such a lasting impression. She was so full of life, hilarious to say the least and she had a way of making everyone feel welcome right away.
I know there are no words that can ease this kind of pain, but please know you are surrounded by love. If there is ever anything you need or even nothing at all, I am here, without any expectations. I’m holding you and your family close in my thoughts and sending so much strength during this heartbreaking time.
I remember being young and seeing you at every family gathering—always full of smiles, laughter, and a joy that truly filled my heart. You were someone I deeply admired. Laura, you were the coolest, and that will never change.
You will be missed beyond words, but your laughter and beautiful smile will live on in all of us. My deepest condolences to the family, to the girls, the grandchildren, and everyone who loved Laura.
May God hold you and keep you.
An angel of love, always🤍
Dearest Michel & family

God be with her and may she rest in eternal peace.
Una notizia che non avrei mai voluto sentire. Sei stata una grande donna, grande madre, sempre con il sorriso. Mi dispiace tantissimo! Condoglianze a tutta la famiglia.
Ciao cugina!❤️
Dearest Michel, Marilu, Monique and your families. We are so saddened by this loss and wish you and your families our sincerest condolences. Way too early in life. She was one of God’s children for sure. Always so bright and positive and, always makes you smile and laugh. Beautiful Woman inside and out and we will always miss her presence but she will be always in our thoughts.
There are not enough words to express how truly saddened we are to hear of Loredana’s passing. She was absolutely one of a kind and will always be remembered with much affection…( and we’re sure to be followed with a chuckle).
Please accept our most sincere condolences. Rest in Peace dear Laura.
Condolences to Michel, Marilu, Monique, Brandon, Pyrs, Alayna, Jace, Chayce, baby girl on the loss of Loredana. My sister, a great lady.
Lorena and I used to talk about how we disliked writing on these obituary websites, and here I am writing on hers!
As is with sisters, one day you are best friends, one day you are on the floor laughing and on another days you are bickering like old hens…but you always hug and make-up even from 350 km away ending each daily phone call with “Ciao. Love ya! Call you/me later!”
The pain of loss is heavy.
No more daily phone calls; although I find myself regularly reaching for my cell to tell her something interesting or share my newest cookie recipe.
Always in my heart…
Enrica or Errica or Yerrica or Roca
Dear Mattar family,
With saddened hearts, we offer our deepest condolences to Michel, Marilu, Monique, and their families.
Loredana was a cherished friend, and her absence is felt deeply. I will forever miss our long coffee hours, our endless conversations, her Christmas cookies made with so much love, and most of all, her unforgettable smile. She brought warmth, kindness, and light wherever she went, and her memory will forever remain with us.
