elevated CUeKL Obituary
Marco Borin passed away on February 14, 2026 at the wonderful age of 96.
elevated CUeKL Born in Chiarano Italy on February 25, 1929, as a young man he dreamed of forging his own path and creating a better life. When the opportunity to come to Canada presented itself, he knew this was his chance. He arrived alone and after securing a job and a place to live, he married his love, Amelia, by proxy and she arrived in Canada to join him for the adventure. Together they created the foundation of our family in Canada. Ennio, was the first born, then Paola, Sandra, and Paolo in the years that followed.
elevated CUeKL Dad was a man of many passions. He loved his work as a master mason and worked on many Toronto landmark buildings. By the end of his career, he was working with large granite slabs and loved the challenging nature of the work. Dad was always active, always busy doing something; growing an abundant vegetable garden, making wine, salami, and sausages, and raising chickens. Dad really enjoyed hard work and was never idle. When he finally retired, the garden became his full time job and it kept us all well fed.
elevated CUeKL It was the arrival of their grandchildren Stephanie, Marco, Daniel, Jesse, Matthew, and Katrien that revived the joy in the Borin household. That joy was once again revived when Dad became a Bisnonno with great-grand daughter Clara, who he adored.
elevated CUeKL Dad is now reunited with his amore, Amelia and we just know that Mom is making a “cafetino” for him right now.
elevated CUeKL Dad / Nonno / Bisnonno, we are all so thankful for our time with you, and for everything you taught us. We will always remember your words: “life is beautiful”.

Paola, Sandy, Ennio and Paolo, our deepest condolences upon the passing of your father. It was with sadness that we learned of Marco’s passing, but it gave me the chance to remember his warmth and that of his family in accepting me as Paola’s brother-in-law. Often I was part of the family celebrations for Christmas, Thanks Giving and Easter, where we shared the Borin family traditions. Marco also shared his love of his garden and of his wine making. There was always a new batch of wine to discuss and test when we visited. May Marco rest in grace with Amelia.
Dear cousins, a person’s value is determined by what they convey. The legacy my uncle Marco leaves me is a message of courage, strength, and love for his family. I will never forget when he told me, “I was never tired of working.” I will never forget his stories, and I will jealously guard the cutting board he made for me on my last visit. I am as proud of it as you are. With your grief, I embrace you, dear Ennio, Sandy, Paola, and Paolo, along with your wives, husbands, children, and grandchildren. My deepest condolences from the Erik and Renzo Anzanello families.
