It is with deep sorrow that we say goodbye to Mary Gomes (nee Rodrigues) who passed away peacefully at AgeCare Aurora, Ontario, on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Beloved wife of Francis (Rudolph) Gomes (deceased). Loving mother of Elizabeth (Michel), Gerard (Michele), Richard (Judy), Marilyn (Paul), Paul (Vidya), Gerard, Phillip (Fazeena), and Krista (Royston). Cherished grandmother of 22, and great-grandmother of 22. Mary is the eldest of 19 children.

Granny girl you lived a life! I will miss you and cherish all the memories, laughs and FaceTimes that we had. Thank you for the foundation that you’ve laid for your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren i promise to be here for them every step of the way. You will be missed dearly. Reading all the comments here what a legacy she has left behind…her infectious smile, warmth, my Guyana days, her Florida visit to us, and the full instructions to make her famous “black cake” (I bake every year and always call her name)…
Her light is not gone, but has taken on a new shape someplace else…. We will always carry a piece of her with us! RIP

We really appreciate this opportunity to attend Mary’s funeral. It was a beautiful service of love & remembrance of dear Mary. We remember Mary’s charming & endearing manner, her generosity of her time & gentle caring nature.
With wisdom & knowledge, listening to her childhood stories, her care & attention to her family & friends. Precious moments together in Toronto, London & Sydney, sharing her recipes & her deep love of life, her devotion to her husband, Rudolph & her cherished children, grandchildren & great grands. Her head for figures, dates & numerous stories made us smile. Forever in our hearts, rest in peace dear Mary in the arms of Jesus.

My deepest sympathies to Mary’s entire family.
I met her and Rudolph at my nieces’s wedding (Joan and George’s daughter) in Chicago many years ago. We shared several fun-filled days. My sister Dolly who lived in Toronto visited Mary quite often and would tell me how much she enjoyed the visits.
It’s always sad when a loved one passes away but we find consolation in good memories.
Richard – so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I’m sure you have many memories throughout the years that will sustain you in the future. Thinking of you and your family
Aunty Mary was warm and kind, the type of person who brought comfort and warmth to any room she entered. Her sense of humor and bright spirit could light up a moment in an instant, brining a sense of joy to everyone around her. Although I didn’t know every chapter of her life, the memories I do have are filled with her gentle presence and the genuine kindness she shared so easily.
Her legacy lives on in her wonderful family…. My family who I am grateful to have but also it lives on in the love she spread throughout her life.
Aunty Mary will be deeply missed, but forever remembered with love and gratitude. May her memory continue to shine brightly. Sending you all lots of love at this time! Xx
I Will always cherish the loving memory of Mary and her friendship to me through the sixty something years I was blessed with her in my and George’s lives. She has left us a lot of knowledge about crafts, cooking, knitting, baking, etc etc. we were blessed with “speaking “ with your Mother a short while before she died. I will treasure her hand written notes about how to make “icing” roses and the macrame bags we made together in Guyana.
So I send you Elizabeth, Marilyn, Krista, Richard, Gerard and all the family my prayers and deepest sympathy as we grieve together
