elevated U5crG Obituary

elevated U5crG It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Nevio Cantarutti at the age of 93 on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Beloved husband of 68 years to Diva Cantarutti (nee Faion). Cherished father of Gilbert and his wife Fulvia, Paul and his wife Grace.  Caring and devoted Nonno to Alyssa (Jan), Dana (Mark), Andrew and Stephen.  Proud Bisnonno of Olivia and Benjamin.  Nevio will be missed by his niece Rosanna Bertolini, his extended family and a huge number of friends.

elevated U5crG He was born in Hamilton, Ontario, at the height of the great depression.  At the tender age of 6, his beloved mother passed away suddenly leaving an indelible loss that influenced the rest of his life.  After a difficult time in Canada, his family moved back to Italy where they would then become exposed to the ravages of World War II with the all the hardships that would entail.  A bright light for him in his early life was his “second mother”, Maria, who provided him with love and kindness.  Despite his early challenges, his positivity and eternal optimism led him to return to Canada in 1948, at the age of 18, first settling in Kingston, Ontario, and ultimately in Toronto where he forged a beautiful life with his treasured wife and family.  His unwavering dedication to his family, his craft and his community guided him in everything he did. He radiated love everywhere.
