elevated r72fB Obituary
elevated r72fB It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Carrera, age 52, who went home to the Lord on November 1, 2025, after a long and brave battle with multiple sclerosis.
elevated r72fB Born on June 25, 1973 in Brampton, Ontario; Richard was known for his amazing smile, incredible strength and his trademark “thumbs-up”. Even through hardship, his smile never faded, and he enjoyed the small things in life.
Richard had a great passion for fast cars, good music, an ice cold beer and cherished the time he spent with close friends.
elevated r72fB Richard is survived by his devoted mother, Odete Carrera, his beloved daughter, Zoe Carrera, who was his pride and joy. He will be deeply missed by his sister, Sandra (Patrick) Penman, his nephews, Gabriel and Lucas Carrera and his father, Jose (Phylis) Carrera; preceded in death and lovingly reunited with his nephew, Zachary.
elevated r72fB Though his journey with multiple sclerosis was long and incredibly tough, Richard faced it with courage, grace, and an unforgettable strength. Richard’s courage and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
elevated r72fB The family extends heartfelt thanks to the management and staff at Extended Care Brampton for nearly a decade of compassion and support throughout his illness.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family. RIP Richard.
Ricky,
You fought the fight of/for your life as we “think we know”. You are an example to all of us, as how life can be. You have endured to the end, and now you are in eternity reaping the benefits of your suffering.
We love and miss you,
Uncle Josko and Aunty Dunja
Dearest Richard, you were larger than life! Sweet and bright! You knew at an age way too young, that life would hold heavy challenges ahead. Some of the best days of my life were spent with you, singing our hearts out while driving on sunny days! And so much more… God rest your weary soul and give you all the mobility and peace you deserve, in heaven.
All my love to you xo
Dear Sandra and family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Richard’s passing. Although I never had the privilege of knowing him personally, the way you have spoken about him, his smile, his strength, and the love he carried for those around him, is a true testament to the remarkable person he was.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Losing someone after a long and difficult illness brings a unique kind of grief, one that is layered with love, exhaustion, hope, heartbreak, and an ache that words never fully soothe. I understand this journey in a very personal way, having been the advocate for my sister throughout a long and painful illness of her own. I know the courage it takes to stand beside someone you love as they fight, and the strength required to continue when the fight is finally over.
I hope you find comfort in knowing Richard is now at peace, free from the challenges that weighed on his body but never dimmed his spirit. May the memories of his smile, his “thumbs-up” spirit, and the joy he found in life bring you moments of grace in the days ahead.
Please know that I am holding you and your family in my thoughts, and I am here for you in whatever way you may need, whether in silence, support, or shared understanding.
With deepest sympathy,
Your work family
Dear Sandra,
I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother, Richard. Please know that my heart goes out to you and your family during this very difficult time. I can only imagine how hard this must be, and I hope you’re finding comfort in the love and support of those around you.
Richard must have shown such incredible courage and strength throughout his battle with MS. I hope that, in time, the memories of his bravery and the love you shared will bring you peace and comfort.
You and your family are very much in my thoughts.
With deepest sympathy,
Nadine
